there is no need to use a wire mod on the p4b533 board.
the bios goes upto 1.95v using the overvolt jumper.

i really dont think you wanna go that high

IMHO: 1.75v actual is as far as you wanna go, IF you have good cooling.

Thugsrook,

I adjusted my ratio, thanks. New mem mark is 2194/2188.

Everything seems to be running fine, but I can't call it 100% stable because Prime95 keeps erroring out.
FATAL ERROR: Rounding was 0.5, expected less than 0.4
Hardware failure detected, consult stress.txt file.
Torture Test ran 1 minutes - 1 errors, 0 warnings.
Execution halted.

I was wondering if this is a Prime95 setting that's off or is my system truely unstable? I'm a totally stable kinda person, don't want it any other way (if I can help it).

I've got the voltage up to 1.675, showing 1.7xx in PC Probe. Temp is 37c right now but was at 41c right after test.

This is from http://www.techbargains.com/

newegg has the Asus P4B533-VM P4 Socket 478 845G 533/400 Bus motherboard w/Video/Lan/Audio for a low $115. Intel P4-1.6A CPU for $140.

Users have overclocked this combo up to 2.8Ghz. It unofficially supports PC2700 memory.

I've had the P4B533-VM board with a PIV 1.6a for a few weeks. There is NO CPU voltage in the BIOS unless I'm missing something!? I'm selling the system here:

GraveLayer talk to a guy named BOBBYEYES. hes been making progress with the P4B533-VM board.

franguinho Cas222 DDR333 is really fast. it gives "slower" DDR400 a run for its money

Hey THUGSROOK, any more info about voltage or divider mods for the P4B533-VM? I'm stuck with this board, bought it cause Asus said it supported overclocking and PC2700, and it doesn't. Do you have contact info for BOBBYEYES? Thanks.

I've had Seti running for almost 7 hours with no problems, CPU temp fluxing between 47c and 50c, depending on what Seti is doing. I might bump up the fsb again, tonight.

Got a silly question. Where can I find what the memory bus is running at? I'm using PC Probe and SiSoft Sandra. Thanx.

**UPDATE**
Well, tried going up to 166MHz FSB, couldn't even get it to POST, even after jacking up the voltage. Tried again at 160MHz, same thing. Thugs, would you or anyone else be willing to work with me a bit and see if we can get a bit higher? I would like to attain at least a stable 2.5 (my goal was 1 gig over rated speed, but I'll settle for 900MHz).

Thanx everyone............

How could they possible get to 2.8 gig when there is no such multiple(175mhz) in the bios

i am beginning to believe that these forum boards are more accurate than the products web sites!!

Not bad, thugs.

I get my new case tomorrow, just got my new RAM and hsf today.
I'll be back in the OCing business again soon.

thugsrock If I have the jumper on my P4B533 set right should I see my vcore settings go to 1.95 in my bios? I ask only cause when I bump my vcore up it does not do anything.

THUG!

I dont know if you already tried this or if it was already said, but try putting Video Memory Cache Mode on UC. I had got around 300 marks extra. And why dont you run your mem timings at 2-2-2-5?

Renob once you set the overvolt jumper you should be allowed 1.95v in bios. (mine says 1.975v for some reason)

IntelInsideIdiotOutside i get better scores using USWC and cas2226.

Thug, my videocard specs are in the details, 305/690 I believe. By the way do you have any idea what the following means?

CPU@ 2272 (FSB142Mhz):
CPU arithmetic: Dhrystone 4258, Whetstone 1186/2753
CPU media: Integer 8924, Float.P 11164
Mem bandwidth: 2100/2105 MB/S

CPU@ 2400 (FSB150Mhz):
CPU arithmetic: Dhrystone 4637, Whetstone 1253/2907
CPU media: Integer 9431, Float.P 11803
Mem bandwidth: 1629/1632 MB/S

This was the main reason why I started posting again on the other forum! I get a VERY big drop in 3DMark score when I test @ 2400Mhz. And now with Sandra I get the above, a drop in memory bandwidth. I would say my memory is bad? What would you?

PS
this time I'll beat you

Oke great, I just hit 11934 and another 11868, which I published in my sig. Thanks for the 1:1 tip. I cant run at 4:3 so my guess is I need the new memory. Here comes the Corsair!

You dont want to run 4:3. That underclocks your memory! I think you are confusing it with 3:4 which overclocks your memory. The P4B533E cant do that above 132 FSB.

You are running 142 FSB?
1:1 = DDR284
3:4 = DDR378
4:3 = DDR213

To run 3:4 you would need a new mobo and better ram.

A simple question here. I noticed in your spec-sheet that you are running your pci bus at 37.5. This of course also increases your agp bus in proportion, right? I've found that this generally limits the extent to which one can overclock one's videocard. I was wondering if you had encountered this at all?

flawedexistence na the AGP overclock doesnt bother the cards overclockability at all.
however the PCI bus might be a problem for some ppl, so i just changed the spec on that to 70/35. (just to keep them outta trouble)

Fart, thats good that the 4:3 ratio didnt work
Anyway, I was running 2400 stable @ 150FSB (1:1), thats at DDR300, am I right or what!

By the way what are the odds that Asus will implement the other ratios in the bios? its just crazy if they leave it like this or am I begin an Idiot again

Intel will be officially announcing 333-400ddr support soon enough. we will have to see what happens with older boards if they get a bios update or not.

1st Intel "disallows" ratios on their boards.
then they discontinue the only "cheap" chip that can possibly run 166fsb 1:1 333ddr. -what are they thinking?

Yes, you are @ DDR300, which is pretty good for your PC2100 ram. I have my doubts that ASUS will put up a new BIOS that will allow the ratios, but one can hope....it certainly would be a nice thing for P4B266 and P4B533 owners. And yes, it is crazy that they left that feature off their boards. Other board makers had no problem putting it in. I personally would not buy an Asus 845x board nor recommend that anyone buy one until they do. There are plenty of other boards that have this capability.

Yo olfart and thug (ofcourse), what mobo would you recommend at this very moment, as being best in overclocking, with DDR and on the expensive side with RAMBUS? Pentium 4 based that is.
