What I remember the most is the way we all came together. For those of you in other countries here's what it looked like shortly after September 11th...
Many orphanage funds were setup. Some were legitimate and helped out immensely but as always, some were a big fake (there are still people in America that wish to take advantage of a situation like that... some were even in New York). However, back here in Bakersfield, California, there was not one block that you went to that didn't have at least 5-6 American Flags waving in the air. Churches were filled with prayer and concern. Some often praying through the night for the families lost. There was a fund set here for a local man lost in the Towers and there was a fund here that raised over a million dollars for the Orphanage fund back home. Our Key Club made a quilt and sent it to the American Red Cross in New York to donate to the families. It was a wonderful time.
