What I remember the most is the way we all came together. For those of you in other countries here's what it looked like shortly after September 11th...

Many orphanage funds were setup. Some were legitimate and helped out immensely but as always, some were a big fake (there are still people in America that wish to take advantage of a situation like that... some were even in New York). However, back here in Bakersfield, California, there was not one block that you went to that didn't have at least 5-6 American Flags waving in the air. Churches were filled with prayer and concern. Some often praying through the night for the families lost. There was a fund set here for a local man lost in the Towers and there was a fund here that raised over a million dollars for the Orphanage fund back home. Our Key Club made a quilt and sent it to the American Red Cross in New York to donate to the families. It was a wonderful time.

How could anyone possibly associate burning buildings with excessive heat?

Notfred what an incredibly unintelligent, irrelevent, and downright petty thing to say thing to say. 9/11 was a world-changing incident, a horrific act the like of which has not been seen in modern history. They cannot be compared simply in terms of the numbers killed and are of a completely different nature, to do so then add that stupid comment you wrote above (therefore crapping in a memorial thread) was wholly disrespectful to everyone involved in 9/11. Shame!

:brokenheart:

May they rest in peace.

I hate to say it Richdog, but what he said went right over your head. He wasn't minimizing 9/11.

God bless America.

You honestly don't have a clue and if you can't be respectful, I'd ask you to leave this thread and never return.

I think (hope) I'm speaking for everyone here when I ask that he leaves these forums and never returns.

Mods, wouldn't this post have been more appropriate in politics & news? I think this guy needs a vacation.

Why, because his opinion is different than yours? Isn't that what the great nation of America is founded upon? Freedom?

I just don't think it is appropriate to mix politics in this thread.

Its a rememberance thread, not a politics thread. His remark was inflammatory, immature, and unnecessary. He could have posted it somewhere else, or waited until tomorrow.

My World Trade Center Pics

Very nice pictures. I regret not taking my camera when we went to the observation deck of the World Trade Center in 2000. Being from Connecticut, there was always tomorrow seeing as how the city is an hour away, and you think "These buildings aren't going anywhere, I'll bring the camera next time." Little did I know......

Rest In Peace.

Whoops, sorry, I forgot about the rule where my post has to promote Christianity, right-wing ideals, jingoism and other archaic or/and close-minded ideas.

Look bub, this is not a "9/11 Political Causes and Implications" thread. This is a rememberence thread. I've got no problem with you espousing your various political beliefs, just do it in the appropriate thread and forum.

This thread is to remember 9/11 and all the people who died, not to promote what you believe is wrong with our government today

As I was driving on the freeway in Sacramento tonight, I saw this American flag hanging up on one of those overpasses, and a guy next to it was waving an American for all the cars to see. Sent a chill down my spine. I love seeing stuff like that.

I remember waking up, turning on the TV, and the shock I felt when I realized the sheer magnitude of the situation. 50,000 people in the near-vicinity. Firefighters rushing to the scene. Order in chaos, and resolve in the face of challenge. Then the fourth plane went down, with people dying in democratic American style; voting to end their lives in order to save countless others and defend their country.

God bless our neighbours to the south.
