I've been reading through some related threads & what I'm getting is that G92 was not ready for prime time but rushed out early to match the 3800's, which would finally explain why they were called 8800's. Now comes the G94 which is the "fixed" (or finalized) G92 that probably wouldn't have been released if ATI hadn't come out with something when they did. The mem control & AA-AF optimizations would have been on the 92 if they weren't so eager to rain on ATI.
