9800 PRO 128 with BF1942

Hello, just received new comp with 9800PRO 128 card. replaced Geforce3 64 meg card. Not noticing huge diff when playing BF1942. Also if I set color at 32bit instead of 16 I get some graphic glitches when flying planes in Coral Sea map. I have the display at 1024x768 at 85 hertz. Any comments?

Are you OCing at all? If so tone it down a bit . If not sounds driver realted. What version of Catalyst drivers are you using?

Make sure you use newer versions of the Catalyst drivers, since many of the updates include fixes for BF1942. I think the latest 4.4 version has some BF1942 fixes in it as well.

I too had texture glitches when I played with my 9800 Pro 128mb card. I don't play the game anymore though, so I haven't tested with newer drivers since then...

I also understand you can't use AA with ATI cards, make sure it's off.

Yeah I had problems with BF1942 with a 9000 Pro, but those problems went away when I got my 9600 Pro.

Get the latest Catalysts, try the Omega drivers, and, FYI, AA/AF works fine with BF1942 & ATI cards.

Where do I get these Omega drivers. I dowloaded what I think is the 4.4 catalysts and still having trouble. This is amazing as I had no trouble with my P4 1.8 with GeForce 3 Ti4200 64MG card. Everybody said get the Athlon 64 with the 9800 PRO 128 and it will be a huge improvement. Well guess what NOTTTTTTTT!!!! Not only does it not seem the graphics look much different I have texture corruption problems now as well. Very Frustrating. Maybe its other games that you notice the improvement. If so I dont know what they are.

its gotta be something you are doing wrong (either drivers or hardware related) because that card kills a geforce 3 and even a geforce 4 or fx in bf1942. ive had friends upgrade from the g3 to the 9800 pro for this exact game and they were blown away by the difference. is this a fresh os install or did you just pop the card in your existing installation?

I play BF1942 DC on my Radeon 9800 Pro and it runs fine with full AA etc enabled in drivers.

It looks great and leathers my housemates ti4200.

This is a fresh os install. Brand new computer from ABSPC. M5^64. Athlon 64 3200+. Gigabyte K8NPRO mobo, 1GB Corsair LL RAM, Dual Raptor 74G drives Raid 0, 9800 PRO 128 Saphire video, Audigy 2 ZS sound. This thing should be kicking some Major Ass. Windows XP home edition.

Settings are currently

1024*768 85hz
4x AA
8x AS


So far it's run fine on Cat 4.4

Something I could think of would be that the Coral Sea map did have a patch out. do any other maps display this problem?
