I just installed a Sapphire 9800 pro into my system. The system will boot up and run for 2-5 minutes after which I will get a blue screen saying there is an infinite loop and ati2dvag is probably to blame.
The system is as follows:
Windows XP
MSI K8N Neo
Athlon64 3000+
1 GB (512 X 2) Geil DDR400
Antec 380W PS
160 GB Samsung HD

I have tried the following to resolve the issue, none of which have been succesful:
-Setting the card to run in AGP 4X
-Turning off fast writes
-Reinstalling Catalyst drivers
-Installing Omega drivers
-Reinstalling Windows XP
-Setting all memory settings in BIOS to AUTO
-Raising AGP voltage upto 1.8V
-Disabling ACPI in Windows

This problem is driving me crazy, I appreciate any suggestions you may have.

well sir, you have done the best troubleshooting, i'd say the problem lies within the hardware itself perhaps at this point.
if you can get a different card, give it a try.

Seems like you didn't mention anything about updating the BIOS - though I doubt that your BIOS is the issue, it wouldn't hurt to try before you decide that it's the card itself. Have you used a different card to test this out?

There was no mention of testing the memory or making sure that the power supply was up to snuff. Try running with a single stick to see if the memory is acting up. You may want to run Memtest86 as well. If the memory comes back with errors, then maybe one of the sticks is bad.

After that, I'd test the power supply by just leaving in the vid card and hard drive and removing everything else (sound, NIC, etc). If it still crashes, try another card and see if it still crashes. If it still does, then a new PS may be in your future. If it doesn't, then the card is busted and it's time for an RMA.

If you're overclocking, please don't. I shouldn't have to say this for troubleshooting, but I'm not going to automatically assume you are not OC'ed while testing.

The issue was resolved by installing Catalyst 3.9... If only I had tried that before formatting and almost disassembling my entire computer.
