So i was about to put down major bucks for a new mobo/processor/ram and i suddenly realized...
What about my video card?
I was running this rig...
Athlon xp 2200
1052 mb pc2700 crucial RAM
Asus A7n8X deluxe mobo
and a Geforce 4 ti4200
then i overclocked my processor to 166x11 (1823 mhz)
I thought that upgrading my proc/ram/mobo would be the best move to make with the money i got from selling my XBOX
I then proceeded to do research on the 9800 pro to xt conversion, and how that saved people hundreds of dollars on graphics cards.
So I ran a couple tests on 3dmark2003 that I would like to share with 'yall
Before with the ti4200 stock, proc stock = 1428 3dmarks :-(
OC'd 4200, OC'd proc = 1630 3dmarks :-\
OC'd proc, 9800 pro 128 mb 256 bit = 5298 3dmarks :-|
OC'd proc, 9800 pro OC'd to 411/364 = 5892 3dmarks
OC'd Proc, 9800pro to XT conversion = 6294 3dmarks :-D
I think this was a wiser move to make then getting the 64 bit combo i was thinking about...that included
DFI Lanboy with the nforce 3 chipset (ultra)
AMD 64 2800 754 (overclocking to 2.(3/4) )
1052 (512x2) pc3200
anyone agree in my assumption that the G-Card was a better move then the mother/proc/ram combo?
if so post, i wanna know what yall think
