It might seem like a good deal, but personally, I would not mess with Phenom Is.

Agreed. Phenom I's are plagued by nuisances and complications. Steer clear and invest in PHII, it will be worth the extra dough.

Depending on what you plan to use it for I think it could be or couldn't be a good deal. I picked a Phenom 9850 up recently for $129, only reason I wanted a quad though was for 3ds max. I took the Phenom over Phenom II simply due to lack of performance gains in 3ds max compared to the price difference. About a 8% performance gain per clock and at the time the cheapest PHenom II ( X4 810) was $179.

They're not so bad. I've been running one since September 08 and it's been fine. I even have it at 3GHz @ 1.35v...can do 3.2GHz at 1.45v but I keep it at 3GHz. They only bad thing I've found about the Phenom Is is the power consumption but I use a program to undervolt and underclock at idle so it isn't as big a concern anymore. For $105 that's not a bad deal at all but if the OP can get a 810 or something similar for just a bit more money then that might be a better deal...although no unlocked multiplier.

I had a 9850 overclocked to 3.0 too and i loved it. Only thing that i didn't like was that to get there i needed to pump up my vcore to 1.48v

for $105 it's not bad but if you spend a bit more you can get a X4 (newer Phenoms).

If you really wanted the PH II then I would get that. Only get the 9950 if you are using it as a backup computer. Maybe something to run a file server off of or want to use for skype.
