I apologize if this is a repost, but I was out browsing for some panaflo info, and ran across this Enhanced Panaflo. Expensive, but if you follow
the supplied link to the Lemont Aircraft Corporation, it looks like they have figured out how to make the Panaflo not only quieter, but also MORE EFFICIENT.........

Looks interesting as all getout. I would like to see some more on their Prototype HeatSink/Fan setups as well...... Remind me of the Tennmax Lasagna

looks nice!

but i dont understand what this means....

<< Don't use them as directly attached CPU fans because high backpressure will defeat the effect. >>

So i shouldnt mount them above an alpha or ax-7?

I also looked at there heatsinks....and if they are really .2 c/w they are gonna beat watercooling, but i doubt those are the true specs.

LAC-augmented Panaflos has been discussed on 7volts.com before:

Scroll down to "The Ring Cage"

"these are the Panasonic FBL series of axial fans. They have been listed in the past but the listing I had has been removed. I don't know if these are available."

They are still available. I got a few from Silicon Acoustics.

The special deal is that the fan case is not solid. It's a series of concentric slots that lets the high pressure air (that is generated by the tips of the fan blades) escape from the sides of the fan. This supposedly increases the air-flow through the fan.

I put 2 of them in my Antec SX10x0 case and didn't see any decrease in temps, and they are louder than regular L1A's.

I contacted the LAC website (whoever that might be) about the Prototype HS/F shown on their site. He referred me to Millennium-thermal.com. After looking there, it appears that the Prototype was turned into the Glaciator/II.

Fans are applied on a system resistance curve. The augmented panaflows exhibit a 8 dBa reduction at a particular point on the system resistance curve. If you do not know your system resistance and you do not know the point on the fan curve and match the two you will never see the noise reduction. Fan application is tricky business you need a cross section of points on the flow/pressure curve with associated noise at each point to make informed application decisions. Most manufacturers supply the free flow point only, which is next to useless as no fan in system operates there.

The NMB version if you can get a hold of one is acually more versatile on the noise application front and would be a better choice if you can get them through one of there distributors. The Nmb is quieter from free flow(100% flow) to approx. 40% free flow.

And note these fans can only be applied in the blowing mode
