ah nm froogle's prices are skewed.
So is the camera just for taking random snapshots of her and her friends to post on the web or to print 4x6?
If so, a good 3MP compact like the Canon SD200 or Pentax Optio S would be great. Yeah the pentax is really small and fits in an altoids tin.

I like my Canon SD200. It's little, easy to use, takes good quality photos, and can be had for well under $200 used.

The Optio S fits in it, but that's the 3MP camera. The 5MP Optio S5z doesn't. I tried

She's going to be resizing it to 0.5MP 80% of the time. So 3.3MP and 4MP would be pretty much negilible.
Anything above 2MP is pretty much useless for 4x6 printouts.

Steve's Review
Although Steve isn't exactly the best source for reviews; DPReview or DCResource are better.

True, but a 2/3MP digicam will give you little room for error regarding composition if you want to print 8x10.
OTOH, I can crop out good portions of a 6MP image and still make a 8x10.

she says it has like this anti-shake system that won't blur out stuff and she could get it for $127 refurb at ebay... good one?

I would think optical zoom would be more desireable than higher MP.

I don't normally print 8x10's. The 8x10's I do print are shots from a series of the same scene or object. If you only have one shot of a specific thing, chances are it's not important enough to make an 8x10 out of, so composition won't be an issue.
