A little wifi problem FIXED

EDIT I FIXED THIS, THE RADIO WAS NOT ENABLED!






okay before I start here's the lowdown

os=WinXP sp2
wifi router = WRT54G Linksys
nic on laptop is Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection

I just reinstalled windows, and I can't detect any internet connection via my wifi adapter, I can get online with no problems when im hard wired... in Choose a wireless connection, i get NO WIRELESS NETWORKS IN RANGE... before i formatted i'd see my network and sometimes my neighbors... now i see none.

i tried WinC and networkstumbler and either i dont know how to use these apps or they dont detect anything either... what can i do to troubleshoot this matter

Many laptops that have internal Intel 2100 and 2200 wireless cards also have a button somewhere to turn the wireless card on and off. Make sure the button isn't turned off..

Make sure your transmit power is set to maximum, this disabled a power saving scheme that wreaks havoc with WRT54G routers.

What does device manager say? Start with step 1.

did you turn the wireless radio on? did yo double check your router is broadcasting SSID? sorry if these are dumb suggestions, i dont know a lot about networking.

The "radio" button is usually somewhere near the laptop keyboard along with any other special function keys (email/Internet/power/app/etc. shortcuts). If your laptop doesn't have one, open the Device Manager, access the Properties for your wireless adapter, go to the Advanced tab, and look for something like "radio" or "transmit radio" and make sure it is set to ON or Enabled. Also, on that same tab look for "transmit power" and set it to 100% as PorBleemo suggested.

Fard nailed what I was saying about the radio. If its an intel adapter it should be labled "Radio Enable/Disable" under the advanced tab. Hope it helps.
