A new build

Ok, so I got rid of my old computer...which wasn't too old...for a new rig. And before I buy all the hardware, I wanted to know if all the components were compatible with each other. I've been talking to a guy from work, and he says some of the parts have a history of having compatibility issues.

First off, the CPU is an Intel P4 3.4GHz. Fast enough for me, and has a reasonable price. Also, I need a socket 478 CPU since I already have the Mobo, which is my favorite: Abit IC7-G. This will be my second time using this board. The last one was so good, I wanted to keep it, but I had to sell it along with the rest.

The video card is going to be an ATI All-In-Wonder X800XT...so I can watch TV and listen to the radio and record both if I want to. Now this is where I've heard about some compatibility issues. This seems like it's an awesome card, and I would hate to have it not work for me.

The RAM is going to be 2 sticks of Corsair XMS 512MB DDR400

The main...and probably the only...optical drive will be a 16X Plextor PX-740A.

The hard drives will be two Seagate 120GB drives in a RAID 0 array.

Oh, and the sound card will be the Creative Audigy 2 ZS...but I've been playing around with the idea of the new Audigy 4...but those are a little too expensive.

So with that, do any red flags pop up compatibility wise?

1. Get an athlon 64, dump that old socket 478

2. Get 2 gigs of regular Value RAM instead of that flashy RAM that doesnt offer much of a performance boost

3, raid 0 is WORTHLESS

LoL. While I am not bias, I wasn't going to post on this subject, seeing that I have no knowledge of pentiums. But if I were a betting man, I'd saying more than half of this forum is pro-AMD.

Yes, well...I already have the motherboard...and there's no way in hell that I would ever buy an AMD CPU. So don't bother persuading me. But if *YOU* want to buy me a new motherboard and a AMD CPU, I'd let you...even though I probably wouldn't use them.

Maybe I should have not mentioned the CPU, as I already know it's compatable.

That's thier loss...and they don't need to speak of it. I'm not looking for "what will be faster, or better"...I'm looking for what will work together.
