Hello Friends,

How about a test to stress those new GPUs? This is a tutorial on how to setup Cuban's Custom Crysis config with skm's custom map "The Resort" in single-player storyline mode (Video I recorded of the mod today). It's easy and this is a step-by-step guide for newbies like myself. I would not take the time to type all this out if the amazing end result wasn't worth seeing. It's hands down the best looking, best performing PC graphics I've ever seen.

Playing this requires the full retail version of Crysis (original not Warhead) updated to version v1.21. If you already run "Real Lifesys", C.U.D.A.A.T.S & TheResort mod, then you already know how amazing this is. If you don't know what that is or what the stupid acronyms stand for, don't worry I will tell you shortly. It's amazing because the graphics look nicer than Crytek's factory "Very High" or "Enthusiast" modes and as an added bonus the framerates are nearly doubled allowing you to experiment with some 4x or even 8x AA and AF! There too many config modifications to mention, but worth noting are improved AO, Time of Day, HDR, RealShadows, Advanced Enemy AI, and all the standard "Very High" graphics features. Lost are minor (but mostly unnoticeable) things like long vegetation draw distance, light distance, & certain smoke/fogs that can tax framerates.

These are community-made modifications that add custom configuration files to your crysis directory. They also add custom levels, map directories, and modified existing levels & game content. I've scanned the downloads for viruses. The process is reversible and has an uninstaller if you want to revert. You might find the following steps troublesome, but it can be installed quickly and easily and is well worth it. Imagine "Very High" Crysis on a spacious, custom paradise-themed map with a custom storyline, only at 50 FPS instead of 25 FPS!! It's what Crysis was meant to be from the start. Okay, if you're still interested, here we go:

Requirements: Full install of Crysis updated to version 1.21., DotNet 2.0, and Administrator rights. Make sure your graphics drivers & software are up to date.
1. Download the following Crysis addons:
- CUUDATS 14.75mb (Config speeds up framerates, adds TOD & AI)
- "The Resort" 132.43mb (Custom paradise map & storyline)

2. Give read/write permissions to your Crysis directory by unchecking the read-only tick box in Crysis folder properties.

3. Unrar Cudaats CCC 2.21. Run the included TC221_Installer (Vista users must disable UAC). Select "Autoexec.cfg", "install realistic shadows", "Ultima Rage TOD", and "Doomlord's AI tweak". Install Instructions Video. I chose level 5 config on my E8400/HD4890. Level 6 is slightly better, but much slower - only recommended for high end rigs - 5870CF / Fermi SLI.

4. Copy the complete TheResort Folder into the Level folder of Crysis: Default location is: Programs/Electronic Arts/Crytek/Crysis/Game/Levels.

5. To play start Crysis as usual. Press the tilde key (~) to open the command console. Type con_restricted 0 and press enter. Type map TheResort and press enter. (Confirm both entries with Enter).

Now you're playing! Enjoy teh awesomeness!

-Notes: Don't change any advanced graphics settings once in the game because these are controlled by the CUDAATS config you installed. It is okay to adjust resolution/aa/vsync on the main screen. I found AA works better through the Catalyst control center with my HD4890. You can find the original threads on this Mod here and "The Resort" map here. Overall these graphics have definitely amazed me (more than BC2, MW2, FC2 & Warhead!). Let me know if you enjoyed it. I am interested to hear your experiences. Thanks!

Yeah, Cuban and the gang at Incrysis have done a great job with their configs and TOD changes. I think it's been over a year since I had Crysis installed, but it looks like those guys are still improving stuff.

Tried it tonight. Pretty nice. And much better game play IMO then vanilla crysis (provided you install one of the AI mods). Wasn't as impressed by the graphics as I thought I would be. I think BFBC2's graphics are a better. Might have been something wrong with my install though. There were weird yellow blobs everywhere.

Cool, thanks for the feedback. What graphics level did you choose, 5, 6? Seems you have a problem if you see yellow dots. What hardware are you running?

Yes the gameplay is very nice with that AI mod. It's almost too difficult, lol. Did you make it to the part where you parachute from the cliff?

I've followed the instructions a couple times, made the directory not read only, installer still hangs up for me every time and gets stuck while injecting files, for hours...

Win7 64bit.. argh

Man, wish I could help you. Im on XP 32bit. You have admin rights/UAC disabled? It could be that the installer isn't 64-bit compatible. You might find some help in the mod's homepage thread I linked to in the op.

For the first install, I chose level 6. Basic elements of my rig are listed below. Will go back in a few minutes and try level 5. Framerate was no issue. Just odd yellow blobs. Probably rocks but with a missing texture.

Didn't make it to the cliff. Too hard with the AI mod!

Core i7 850 at ~3.8 GHz
Asus P55D PRO
AT Radeon HD5970 with catalyst 10.4 preview
8 GB DDR3 1600
Win7 64 bit

OK tried it again after installing and selecting level "5." No yellow blobs anymore. Must be an issue with level 6.

Constructive comments: Graphics are good. Not amazing. Large loss of fidelity over the great view distances detracts from the overall graphical experience. Fact that dead soldiers disappear literally after 2 seconds of not looking at them is frustrating (particularly as they are the primary source of ammo).

Noticed two bugs:

1) The first bug, which is a bit funny, has to do with the mounted machine guns in the firing nests at various points. When the AI gunners use the mounted gun, they are teleported 10-20 feet above the gun. As a result, it looks like they are floating in mid air, firing a gun, all the while the mounted gun is firing away below them. Same problem happens if the player uses the mounted gun. Except when the player disengages the gun, he falls to his death.

2) The second bug relates to save games, which appear to be partially broken. They work within a single playing session, but it appears that play cannot be resumed by loading a save game after exiting the program. Rather, loading a save game after exiting and reloading the program (e.g., from the main menu) restarts the level.

On a very positive note, the shooter gameplay is well above average. Primarily due to excellent level design. I made it through the vantage point section and on to the chopper section and have enjoyed myself throughly.

OP, if you designed the mod, good job! Two thumbs up. Just a few minor bugs to fix and then you will have a real gem.

Hey, it's not my mod, but thanks! Yes some vegatation comes into view too late, so you can see it appear - kind of a bummer. I also noticed the machine gun thing. I got on to use it one time, and it threw me to the sky, and when i fell down and hit, I died. Have you made it to the shark hunting part & scuba diving the cave? Those are pretty awesome. I first made the original post after seeing how nice the graphics looked in this map with the mod. But as I'm playing the map it's really growing on me... hehe. I'm enjoying the gameplay more than I thought I would. How were your framerates? Were you able to use 4xAA? I'm enjoying the mod, the night fights were really cool.

Some tips: There are SCARs at the dead soldiers. Kill the first two sharks and dive into the water quickly after that. When you get to the waterfall at night it says theres a way up to the plateau, you have to jump right in front where you're standing. It's kinda hard to make it up the cliff face at night. I had to turn up the gamma & contrast a little to see. Once you get up to the top of that mountain in the center of the ocean, the enemies start falling off the edges... haha.

Well thanks for your feedback man, glad you're enjoying it. It's definitely buggy. I'm having a ton of fun playing it though.

I'm surprised CUUDATS is new to all of you...been around for some time now

The AI tweaks make the game so hard. It took me forever to beat the game, and I hadn't even realized that the AI tweaks had forced Delta difficulty until way later, and I couldn't disable it.

Made for one hell of an experience though.

CUUDATS isn't new to me. Just the resort level. Never actually tried the AI mods before. Was too focused on getting the game to run. Hard to believe that just 2 short years ago I could barely get 30 FPS in crysis. Now I'm running 70-80 at most points. Only chugs a little when there is lots of AI and stuff blowing up.

Just set this up.. i'm not sure if it looks noticeably better. Your video looks awesome though. I'm not sure if it looks as nice as your video. I'm using a 5770 with CUUDATS on 5. AA doesn't work either.
Also, the music is a bit annoying. It's fixed at max volume and you can't even turn it down in the game options.

Well I've increased the gamma & contrast in the game, and turned down the brightness. Gives it a bolder look like in BC2. The music volume adjustment works for me.

Glad you liked my video!

So if I install this, there's no way to change the AI back to normal in the vanilla game?
