Hello Friends,
How about a test to stress those new GPUs? This is a tutorial on how to setup Cuban's Custom Crysis config with skm's custom map "The Resort" in single-player storyline mode (Video I recorded of the mod today). It's easy and this is a step-by-step guide for newbies like myself. I would not take the time to type all this out if the amazing end result wasn't worth seeing. It's hands down the best looking, best performing PC graphics I've ever seen.
Playing this requires the full retail version of Crysis (original not Warhead) updated to version v1.21. If you already run "Real Lifesys", C.U.D.A.A.T.S & TheResort mod, then you already know how amazing this is. If you don't know what that is or what the stupid acronyms stand for, don't worry I will tell you shortly. It's amazing because the graphics look nicer than Crytek's factory "Very High" or "Enthusiast" modes and as an added bonus the framerates are nearly doubled allowing you to experiment with some 4x or even 8x AA and AF! There too many config modifications to mention, but worth noting are improved AO, Time of Day, HDR, RealShadows, Advanced Enemy AI, and all the standard "Very High" graphics features. Lost are minor (but mostly unnoticeable) things like long vegetation draw distance, light distance, & certain smoke/fogs that can tax framerates.
These are community-made modifications that add custom configuration files to your crysis directory. They also add custom levels, map directories, and modified existing levels & game content. I've scanned the downloads for viruses. The process is reversible and has an uninstaller if you want to revert. You might find the following steps troublesome, but it can be installed quickly and easily and is well worth it. Imagine "Very High" Crysis on a spacious, custom paradise-themed map with a custom storyline, only at 50 FPS instead of 25 FPS!! It's what Crysis was meant to be from the start. Okay, if you're still interested, here we go:
Requirements: Full install of Crysis updated to version 1.21., DotNet 2.0, and Administrator rights. Make sure your graphics drivers & software are up to date.
Now you're playing! Enjoy teh awesomeness!
-Notes: Don't change any advanced graphics settings once in the game because these are controlled by the CUDAATS config you installed. It is okay to adjust resolution/aa/vsync on the main screen. I found AA works better through the Catalyst control center with my HD4890. You can find the original threads on this Mod here and "The Resort" map here. Overall these graphics have definitely amazed me (more than BC2, MW2, FC2 & Warhead!). Let me know if you enjoyed it. I am interested to hear your experiences. Thanks!

Requirements: Full install of Crysis updated to version 1.21., DotNet 2.0, and Administrator rights. Make sure your graphics drivers & software are up to date.
1. Download the following Crysis addons:
- CUUDATS 14.75mb (Config speeds up framerates, adds TOD & AI)
- "The Resort" 132.43mb (Custom paradise map & storyline)
2. Give read/write permissions to your Crysis directory by unchecking the read-only tick box in Crysis folder properties.
3. Unrar Cudaats CCC 2.21. Run the included TC221_Installer (Vista users must disable UAC). Select "Autoexec.cfg", "install realistic shadows", "Ultima Rage TOD", and "Doomlord's AI tweak". Install Instructions Video. I chose level 5 config on my E8400/HD4890. Level 6 is slightly better, but much slower - only recommended for high end rigs - 5870CF / Fermi SLI.
4. Copy the complete TheResort Folder into the Level folder of Crysis: Default location is: Programs/Electronic Arts/Crytek/Crysis/Game/Levels.
5. To play start Crysis as usual. Press the tilde key (~) to open the command console. Type con_restricted 0 and press enter. Type map TheResort and press enter. (Confirm both entries with Enter).
Now you're playing! Enjoy teh awesomeness!
