Hello im here to update my current situation with this board. I cant seem to find my old thread so i'll make a new one here.

Heres a quick recap, I originally planned to run my unlocked 2200+ Tbred "A" cpu at 1900GHz (9.5x200) using Corsair PC3500CL2 ram but instead i got it running at 2000GHz (10x200).

SYSTEM:
A7N8X Deluxe rev1.04 bios1001C
512MB Corsair PC3500CL2 w/Plat Spreader
AMD XP 2200+ Tbred "A" unlocked w/ wire mod
Enermax 461W PSU
Swiftech MC462A w/ Sanyo Denki 80MM FAN idle: 41C, load: 46C, motherboard:30C
eVGA 64MB GeForce3

WCPUID 3.1

FSB: 200MHz
Multiplier: 10x
Memory Frequency: Sync
Active Precharge Delay: 5
RAS to CAS Delay: 2
RAS Precharge Delay: 2
CAS Latency: 2T
Vcore: 1.825 (but the bios is reading it at 1.85)
DDR Voltage: 2.8

SiSoft Memory Benchmark
SiSoft CPU Benchmark

The system has been running stable for about 15 hours now running Prime95 Torture Test and Distributed in the background. So far I have not have it crash on me and things have been really stable and fast.
I just got to say that this motherboard rules and im surprised that I have met my original goals and exceeded them as well. I believe that my CPU cannot go any higher without better cooling and I also think that this memory, the PC3500CL2 has also reached its cap at the timings I have. I might be able to go higher if i relax the timings i think. However, i think im just going to leave it how it is now.

holly crap this board gives me a huge B@NeR, how is the price of this one compared to the epox board?

what voltages are you running?

Excellent stuff there TonyB. Looking good I am right behind you except I have to do one more thing which is to get a better power supply. I run a Tbred 1700+ at 10 x 193 and use Crucial PC2100 at 6 3 3 2.5.
Sandra is 3000/2805 (very close to yours) - an average of 4 runs. I am going to look at a TopPower 470W/Antec 430W - haven't made up my mind yet on which.

instead i got it running at 2000GHz (10x200).

Well... 2000MHz is 2400+'s speed. Not extremely high increase
in performance, but boy.. 200FSB - that sounds extreme!

2-2-2-5 is nice for the memory timings!
I'm guessing you mean 2GHz, or 2000MHz
Have you trie 10.5 yet? Or did it fail at that?
And one last thing, it's a suprise to see that the voltage is OVER what the BIOS setting is, normally it's the other way round.

Nope...Asus mobos are very much this way...In the p4 mobos all of the sis and intel i845d,e,pe chipsets always overvolt. It usually has a tendency to once you have loaded the cpu the vcore will fall closer to waht is actually set in the bios...It is like you are setting the load vcore!!!

asus sis645 p4s333 mobo overvolted .03v....1.5v=1.53v
asus p4b533 i845e mobo overvolted .06-.06v
asus p4pe i845pe mobo I hear is still overvolting...

I just got my A7N8X in today and I just can't seem to overclock my chip. I have an 1800+ model: AXDA1800LT3C if that helps. I'm using Corsair XMS 3200, but the mobo just won't boot to Windows saying overclocking failure or something like that. I'm a total noob so please be gentle. TIA.

PS, it fails no matter what I do whether it's changing the FSB freq or the clock multiplier. It won't even boot if I even "underclock" it!

2000GHz, wow. That 130nm manufacturing process really pushed those TBirds far! Sorry, I had to. =P

Anyway, looks like a damned nice board. Asus almost always makes good boards, so it's no surprise. The nForce2 chipset looks the be the best chipset to come along the AMD side of things for a long time.

Dude, those poor Crucial sticks will die pretty soon. LOL Get some quality RAM!

Yep, already change to Samsung PC2100 now, check my rigs, @default DDR Vcore 2.5-5-2-2. Crucial can do it too, but @2.8V 2.5-7-3-3.

If you have BIOS 1001.g you might want to downgrade to 1001.c I had the same problem, it would alway give me the message "cpu have overspeed" ...... hope this helps

Or set the setting in the bios to not stop for any error on booting.

That fixed my problem with getting that stupid error.

That Cosair should do 200 at stock voltage (2.65v)
mine does 191.4 at 2.65v
(readup at the Cosair site, the XMS is pre-tested at 2.65v for 200Mhz (if I remember correctly))

If your pushing the voltage on that ram, I'd bet the memtest86 would provide errors.

Check it out.

Prime95 is your best test BTW.
I was finally able to run P95 with all my other games or apps at same time (including 3dMark)
after my PS fix.

I,m at Cas 2 4 bank 2,6,2,2 1T

TonyB, drop that mem voltage!! I have Crosair 3200 that's doing 200mhz+ at cas2 using only default voltage.

I have a XP2700+ that I was looking to up to 200MHz FSB on a A7N8X. In the Bios it gives me the option for 100/133/166 and all the multipliers I could ask for, but seemingly no option to go to 200, what else do I need to do? (I'm not sure the bios version off the top of my head, it's whatever it shipped with as of about a week ago.)

Avram, it's posted already in this thread. Change you bios version. There is only one that gives the "CPU Overspeed" problem, so just get a different BIOS ROM and load it.
