A7N8X-E Deluxe & Mobile Barton 2500+?

There have been a lot of recommendations to get the Abit mobo with this chip, but I'd prefer to go w/ the Asus board. I was just wondering what the tradeoffs would be (if there are any) of using the A7N8X-E Deluxe instead of the Abit NF7's. Also, any probs b/t this CPU and the mobo? Thanks.

I'm using a mobile XP2500+ with an Asus A7N8X Deluxe.

I have some problems changing the multiplier to certain values. It's weird, the computer doesn't POST. I have to look into it.

Hrm, is there a diff b/t A7N8X Deluxe's dual LANs and say... getting a regular mobo w/ integrated LAN and then adding a NIC to it? Internal bus speed problems maybe?

If you're using the nVidia LAN, then you bypass the PCI bus. If you use the 3COM LAN, you use the PCI bus. So your answer is yes and no.

er... I mean if it was say a regular non-Deluxe A7N8X w/ only one integrated LAN.

No real differences. Just that the 2nd LAN is a 3Com based one which is better than your cheap $10 NICs. It has more diagnostic and other management tools, but most of them aren't needed in a home environment. You probably wouldn't notice a difference.

Remember the A7N8X Deluxe uses the MCP-T (SoundStorm) whereas A7N8X is a normal MCP chip. So you don't get the "nice sound".

I actually have an old 3Com NIC from an old comp =^P And I'm prolly gonna use an Audigy 2 newayz ;-) *sigh* Now I'm considering the Abit boards. Thx for the help. ^_^
