A8N-E Dual Channel

I have 2x512MB sticks of Crucial Ballistix PC3200. Board is an Asus A8N-E

Go to the A8N-E manual, and it says to install dual sticks in banks A1 and B1 only. So I do so, but computer won't post.

I isntall them into banks A2, and B2, and it works just fine.

First, my question is if they are running in dual-channel mode if they are in slots A2 and B2, and my second question is why the A8N-E won't post with the sticks in A1 and B1. Would a BIOS update be required perhaps? Currently, i have the 1006-003 BIOS, release June 28th or so.

Wont hurt ya at all too use A2 B2 My old A8N-SLI did the same thing with my memory.

With a BIOS update it most likely will not be fixed anytime soon to use A1 B1.

Try the 1007.002 Im using it now seems great.

Prolly wont wrk, But have no fear A2 B2 is the same thing yer still in Dual mode so it really doenst matter.


Yes yer in DUAL mode.

And YES a newer BIOS will eventually fix this.
