A8N-SLI Deluxe: "BIOS NOT INSTALLED"

I have a A8N-SLI Deluxe Motherboard. When I start up, it says, "No Int 13 Drives to support", "BIOS not installed!".

I can't get into the BIOS, boot from floppy, or anything else.

What is causing this and how do I fix it?

Did you check the manual on how to clear the CMOS?

Perhaps your mobo is missing the bios flash chip, it's usually somewhere around the mobo in a brownish slot about the size of a penny or a dime.

Yes. I cleared the CMOS. Also, the chip is not missing.

I took a quick video of the screen on boot up. You'll notice I hit DEL to enter the BIOS, cause it says "Entering BIOS", but it doesn't go into the BIOS, it just continues as it usually does.

The Asus disc that comes with the mobo has a bios recovery feature. Try booting to the Asus CD then hit Alt-F2

Disable the add-on SATA controller. It's that controller's BIOS that isn't initializing (naturally, since it has no drives to control). If you need the controller later, enable it again.

I can't boot from the Asus CD (because it doesn't get that far).

When you say to disable the "add-on SATA controller", is that something I have to do physically? How do I do that (since I can't get into the BIOS).

If you can't get into the motherboard's BIOS, then check to be sure your keyboard is plugged into the purple port, which is for keyboard, and not the green one, which is for mouse. If it's not a PS/2 keyboard, try a PS/2 keyboard (round plug = PS/2, as opposed to USB).

Once you can get into the BIOS, you'll be able to disable your onboard Promise(?) SATA controller in the motherboard BIOS and you won't see those prompts from then onwards.

My USB keyboard works just the same as my PS/2 keyboard. So, it doesn't matter, cause, I can't get into the BIOS. I can disable the SATA Controller by pressing Crt-A, but that doesn't fix anything.

Still says, "BIOS not installed".

Your problem is that your Adaptec SCSI controller has not found any devices, and it is reporting that it hasn't loaded it's own BIOS.

Remove it or attach something to it

I agree that that could be the problem, but how do you know he (even) has an Adaptec SCSI controller? Does it come with the mobo or something? (Cause if it does, I gotta get me one of those)

Indeed. There is no SCSI controller. I physically disconnected the SATA controller and it started up fine.

Because if you watch the video, that's what you'll see.
However, my mistake - it was actually an Adaptec SATA controller. I'm too used to seeing the SCSI BIOS init
