Hey, im trying to figure out if changing the multiplier for my cpu clock will affect my performance in the manner described below....

currently:
233 x 11 = 2563MHz w/ DDR @ 233MHz

consider:
242 * 10.5 = 2541MHz w/ DDR @ 242MHz

Does using the non-integer multipliers (i.e. 9.5,10.5) decrease total system performance such that the increase in memory access speed doesn't matter? Does the memory need to be synched to integer multiples (i.e. 9,10,11) of the HTT bus speed to achieve maximum performance?

Which of the two configurations above do you think will yield the best overall system performance?

peace,

With A64 memory doesnt need to be 1:1, also the mutiplier is just a multiplier. It being an interger or not wont matter. Mem speed doesnt have that much effect on preformance to begin with on these boards.

Though it is true that the A64 mem doesnt need to be 1:1, i have read from many different forums that running anything but 1:1 will incur memory bandwidth penalties... I guess that i am asking if the memory controller will operate more efficiently (more mem bandwidth) if the CPU multiplier is 11 as opposed to 10.5. Another way of putting this question is, will the performance of the system as a whole follow a linear growth trend if this is done?

I am considering this because i know that a +22Mhz difference for the CPU might not amount to as much of a gain as +9MHz for the memory. If the additional .5x multiplier will screw the memory controller up such that there is a significant performace hit, then i wont even bother. But if there is no performance hit, then i will do it.
