I think it makes us all feel safer to say "It wasn't her fault - it was chemical, it was the husband, it was society, it was religion...". I fear the truth we can't accept is that, while there were several circumstances that were causing difficulty in her life, in the end it was her that drowned 5 small, innocent children.
I don't think we as a society can accept that. I don't think we can believe in evil.
It must have been video games, rap music, bullies.
It was post-traumatic stress disorder.
Road Rage.
It wasn't that person's fault.
We need a reason.
Alaiyah: Your attempts to pin this on Christianity are disgusting. The couple having all those children was thier own choice, not that of a religion. Christianity doesn't forbid birth control. Even Catholics like me, who only practice natural family planning, would have no reason other than personal choice to have all those kids. We use NFP and have spaced our children perfectly so far. While NFP is not perfect (no birth control is), it does not = 5 kids in 7 years.
And I know families that have willingly had that many, and more kids. They love them, care for them, and are happy. Not one murder. Geez, kinda flies in the face of blaming this on Christianity, huh?
