I must agree with dafatha00.

Banana Republic and J.Crew rule!!!

More than half of my wardrobe consists of those two brands. There's always something cool in BR's clearence section. I usually stop by once a week to see what's new.

I have to agree with the people that say AF is suck... on top of the fact that the clothes aren't worth the money, it comes off as a store directed to whites... from past experience, in every one of the stores i've gone too all the models on the walls and all the workers were white, even the catalog models were white... i've had non white friends apply and pretty much it's safe to say they didn't get hired cause they weren't white... oh well, that's just my opinion, they should diversify before i'll ever step foot in there.... oh and by the way, i like polo or nautica, you get what you pay for

i like, not wearing the exact same 50 dollar t-shirt as everyone else with a shaggy crew cut. What ever happened to t-shirts and jeans? All I know is John Wayne would never wear A&F, and nobody can trash john wayne. Or Mr.T for that matter. Moral of the story, be cool dont buy cool

A&F is for rich kids who don't mind wasting their money on clothing and flocking with the other rich sheep.

AF and Banana Republic are definitely suck these days. Plain old t-shirt and jeans are still as cool today as they were 40 years ago and I believe you can still get both of those items at Sears OK, I haven't bought clothes at Sears in a while but you get my point.

Now IMHO, AF was MUCH cooler when you could walk into their store and find quirky "outfitter" type stuff instead of frat boy chic. Ditto for Banana Republic and by the way, it's a joke that they even still call that place Banana Republic. I used to love getting their catalogs 10-15 years ago because it always had plenty of weird interesting shiznit like "authentic gurkha shorts with matching pith helmet". And when you went in their stores they weren't filled with soulless, nose-pierced drones-R-us queueing up to buy $100 black linen shorts and aromatherapy candles. You were entering a curious alternate universe of a store filled with old jeeps, stuffed birds, fake palm trees, and neat clothes.

I'm going to have to comment. When I was first introduced to abercrombie I was up in Allentown PA where it was really cool up there, mostly white. But not just white. Granted the black people weren't thugs but they were cool and were wearing abercrombie too. I'll tell you something though; I went to my local abercrombie store in North Miami and I remember the cashier was black.

It is expensive but it's quality clothes you're paying for. There are a lot of a$$holes out there but just because they wear abercrombie doesn't make it suck.

I personally buy it because I like the style. It's funny, at school the guys I hung out with, you'd call the preps, were like damn because I spent my money there. Hell, I'm not even white, I'm arab. So feh

my 2cents.

Just curious: did anyone here actually go check out the sale? Because if you did you'd see that when things go on sale it's actually cheaper than places like Gap or Structure or even Old Navy.

BTW since Abercrombie is a "white" brand, is there anything acceptable for us non-white people to wear? Are there less white people working at Polo, Structure, Gap, Banana? I'm not defending Abercrombie but I thought clothes were clothes, and as long as they're cheap and good quality I'll buy them.

AF is not a WHITE brand. Just like tommy hilfiger was not a BLACK brand. You wear what you feel like wearing. It about style not race.

>> love their cloths also but its sucks when their xl is a medium or large in anyone else's clothing <<

I was wondering if I was the only one who noticed this. I used to love to buy their "business-casual" short-sleeve shirts for work, because unlike most shirts, they would actually last for a couple years. But over the last year or so, I started noticing that their XLs, which used to fit me perfectly, had all of a sudden become shorter & tighter (no, I didn't get taller & fatter). Either they were pinching pennys, or they decided that XL-sized people didn't shop at their stores anymore. Unfortunately, they also didn't seem to carry any XXLs, so I had to shop elsewhere.

Well, Willis and Geiger was a store just like the old Banana Republic and A&F. Only difference is, they didn't change. And, consequently, went out of business a few years ago. So, maybe, if they'd changed their marketing strategy, they'd still be in business.

However, I do like A&F, being a white middle-class frat boy age 14-24. I do not, on the other hand, pay full price for their stuff...Their stuff lasts forever, though.

Can anyone explain to me the sizing of ANF? I want to place an order and so far I've heard that their clothes are a little looser so I should buy a size down. Then others say their clothes are a little tighter so I should buy a size up? I am quite slim at 5'7.5" 135lbs. What size should I get for a jacket? I normally wear large and it fits me fine (fine as in a nice fit not a thug fit). I wanted a pair of pants and they have them as SML not numbers. What would a 32-33 waist be? Thanks!

sygyzy: I think Medium would be within that range; 32-36. Large is like 36+, thats how most places are, im not too sure on this one

This sale was started right after new year.
Winter clearance items are 40% off already marked down price.
I got a Sherland wool sweater for under $20.

I'd say A&F has good quality and price is good when it's on sale.
I won't buy GAP, not cheap and average quality.

For all those pasty little computer dorks out there who have nothing better to do than bash AF, you really need to do some research before making broad generalizations.
I dont know where the rest of you are from, but here in CA, both the staff and people who buy AF are of all different races. Its not just a "white" thing.
While the clothes are on the high side, you get what you pay for. I have never had any problems with the clothes whatsoever.
Once again, this is the habit of the people of this board to jump to conclusions when they dont like something (ie Macy's sucks because they wouldnt let me scam them... Compaq/Ashford sucks because they wouldnt accept my 15+ gift certificates that I illegally obtained)

TJ MAXX all the way dudes. Most of the time they have the same cloths that are available for twice the price of MALL dpt stores lika GAZOOKS ...etc.

The only abercrombie t shirt i got was from their outlet store at MALL OF AMERICA MN and I paid like $ 12.00

Definetly OVERPRICED ITEM IMHO.

I am 19, Vietnamese, probably considered in the "lower-middle" class, and I work at Abercrombie and Fitch. To categorize all of us as "snobs" is essentially a snobby comment in itself, and to say we overcharge may be true, but if you could sell your car for $5,000 or $10,000, I think you'd go for the latter. The fact is that we sell a lot of clothes...more in a weekday than we sold at Structure in an entire weekend when I worked there. And on the sizing issue, we make our clothes small on purpose so that people not blessed with Greek-God like physiques can look somewhat buff.

T-Wolves,
We carry XXLs, but we get very few in every shipment and usually sell out quite quickly. You can order them thru the catalog or on the internet at www.abercrombie.com (sorry, don't know how to link). FYI though, XXLs are usually a few bucks more expensive.

The only thing I ever got from A&F is jeans since I really hate shirt with labels on it. I prefer the clean cut that JCREW, Banana Republic, or GAP better than the rugged looks that A&F offer though.

AF has really really good looking girls clothes...... somewhat cool looking guys clothes....

BUT

unless you are already good looking with at least average body, you are not going to look good in them. Most of the people that i know who looks good in AF (including my gf), looks good in other brands too. People who wear AF because they are rich and want to improve their image usually have a negative effect.

For this reason, I prefer to stay with GAP and structure (many of my friend say I look more like an evil guy in movie than a frat boy).

dmbsuperfan - Can you please answer my question since you work there? How are the sizings for someone my size? I need to know for jackets (that say oversized interestingly enough) and for pants. Both of which have SML.
