Hi all,

I recently purchased this motherboard and I have found that the temp readings are a bit screwey. The CPU temp fluxuates greatly, ranging from 45 - 65 depending on load (Using Abit EQ). On my old ASUS mobo the temp ranged from 44-54 (Using ASUS Probe). Should I be paying any attention to the PWM reading which seems to stay much steadier (Currently 44C)

Also sometimes the NB fan will get a reading and other times it will just say off.

Also my ethernet connection to my router isn't working for some reason, checked the connection both ends. I am having to wirelessly connect to it which isn't to bad just a bit annoying.

Any advice appreciated

Mark

Sorted out the Ethernet problem - but still concered about temps.

Just doing a prime 95 test :-

CPU temp peaking at 70C PWM 56C SYS 38C

Is this ok?

Well I was a proud owner of the AN7 for about 1 week. About uGuru... In my honest opinion, it is absolutely retarded. Not only does it eat motherboard resources and slows the performance down a notch, it is inaccurate and buggy.

Temps were jumping pretty fast for me, probably because the onboard uguru chip senses it instantly. My cpu went from idle to load temps within seconds when I stressed the computer. My personal concern was PWM.

I got a fortran 530w psu with 2x80mm fans and it blows a lot of air and inside the psu there are huge heatsinks with great airflow. AN7 consistently reported my PWM at being 55C idle all the way to 90C+ when under load. I touched my psu and it is slightly warm and putting my hand behind the exhaust is also barely warm. Also, the retarded interface cannot show all the voltages and temperatures in full mode, you have to wait for the dumb scrolling things to show it once it gets to their turn.

To make a medium story shorter, I ended up returning the board and got myself a DFI Infinity Ultra. Too bad since it was my first ABIT experience and I can tell you I was not at all impressed with the AN7 after hearing all the great things about NFS.

Maximum FSB I could hit with AN7 was 220, same hardware in my DFI I run everyday at 236 with CPC on and 2x512mb ram dual channel.

Abit was such a good mobo manufacturer, I don't know what the hell they did with AN7 but it really is a step back in my opinion.

Good luck!

BTW those temps are normal if you consider you own an AN7. Except mine spiked my PWM temp to 90C+ and it would frantically ask if I wanted to shut my computer off. So lame.

Hi Kiaman,

I've just noticed your reply now - thanks for that, its put my mind at easy a bit. I kept thinking I had seated the Heatsink incorrectly (Bloody did it about 3 times)

I'm not going to try over clocking for the time being, I did a mild overclock to 190FSB and the CPU temps shot up to 80C

Mark.
