I agree, I'm just tryin to think of what would be different video-wise on everyone's system, y'know? That's why I was thinking card. Maybe AGP or video drivers? Bios maybe. How bout AGP speed?

aint a driver issue cause it doesnt get that far

the system will boot, but w/o video (which is probably the cause of the drivers getting eatin)

sounds like agp voltage to me.

Didn't think about the driver thing.....you're right, voltage would be the likely candidate...but why isn't it affecting yours? Why is yours different? PSU?

i dont know

all the ppl ive spoken to are running above 160fsb.
161fsb seems to be the starting point of the problem for them.

Hmmn... I'll start trying every mem divider and CPU strap option and see if they have any affect. I still doubt the problem could be a video card. If this problem is anyhow related to the infamous IT7 cold boot problem, I'm pretty sure they have tried almost everything to solve it.

It goes back farther than that. The BD7 845D had it. That was the reason I didn't get the BD7 when the 845 DDR boards first came out. It would be cool if someone could figure out how to fix this. Gigabyte has also had its fair share of cold boot issues.

Well, the thing I don't get is if this is a recurring problem with Abit, why hasn't Abit responded? And what's making it so random? One of the posts on the Abit forum said he contacted them and Support said that was the first time he'd heard of it?!!! :Q

No, there's usually an hour or two in the afternoon (my time) when I believe he sleeps. I have yet to positively confirm this, tho. And my theory on the finances is that he's independently wealthy, so he doesn't have to work. I read somewhere that someone claimed he is a decendent of royalty who has been genetically altered while in the womb to be a superhuman. My research has come up with no answers however, and I have to classify that as rumor.

it could be AGP voltage or AGP lock

definately AGP tho, do you agree?

Just asking and sorry if someone have said this before, Have anyone try using a PCI video card and see if that helps? (just an idea)

I think Thugys should go get a Radeon 9700 Pro and go show those top dawgs over at Madonion some scores from the Anandtech boys. That some hella good overclock Thugs and some fine work showing us your results. KEEP UP THE AMAZING JOB. No reason you shouldnt be able to beat 20000 in 3dMark2001SE if you can run at 170 fsb.

I'll admit I even see it once in awhile on my EPOX 4BDA2+, but it's extremely rare (maybe 1 in 30 cold boots). Not really a big deal. There is a watchdog function that tells me something is wrong and to check my bios settings. It never hangs. My Gigabyte socket 370 board would do it every single warm or cold boot with no watchdog protection....what a pain! The wire mod did fix it. The guys that have had this issue (Exec), have you tried a wire mod? I realize it very well may be something else, but it would be interesting to see if it makes any difference.

6) Thugsrook used to work for ASUS, now since ABIT pays him more, he is working for ABIT. He is willing to work for who pays him the most. BTW, he has part time contractS with Corsair and Nvidia. ATI can't afford him yet tho...but soon...ATI is trying to set aside some funds to hire Thugsrook.

now getting reports about the Asus P4PE doing the exact some thing :Q

interesting...
have all of the ppl who has the cold boot problem wait it out until window is loaded?
have they all try dropping the o/c by a few mhz? like 5mhz for testing purposes?
what about memory timings?

the loss of driver seems kinda weird...
let me think a bit...

SuperCK ~ from what i have gathered so far, nothing is working
(remember they only get to test this once a day for a cold boot)

any other i845pe boards have this problem besides Abit and Asus?
1 more and im gonna blame this on a i845pe problem!
