I would really like to try out the Abit GB.... I'm look more and more at Abit and less at Asus
I have used Asus mobo for many of my computers and I'm start to get unhappy with them
I have seen PICs of the Asus GB and it looks nice but if Abit make there GB like the ABIT IT7 MAX2 then i'm sold

So did Asus lose a customer???

Pretty much got to the same level as your other boards, right??? What is a wrap up of this board versus your other boards??? Are you achieving higher memory scores and stability??? inquiring minds want to know....

Shhhhhhhhh! don't tell everyone
I am running stable at 2.88 now. I really wanted to get through Prime for a 24 hr period, and I just could not do it. So, I backed her down. Mem scores are really good on these PE boards. They just fly.
Things that make you go Hmmmmm, almost identical to my P4PE/L results, I had it as high as 167FSB but it wasn't rock solid@1.7v so I've settled for 2.9ghz 1.625v 161FSB DDR403 using my Crucial 2700DDR@2.7v SPD settings and the Sandra mem bandwidth score is damned respectable for SPD settings at that speed which is about all this ram will do without going flakey. The Vantec AeroFlow cooler I bought is working well BTW, the TMD@5720RPM is surprisingly quite, barely louder than the stock IMO :Q which is to say pretty quite, and I have the same temp of 50c-51c at 1.625v 2.9ghz as I did @2.7ghz 1.525v EDIT: using the stock cooler and pad that is I suspect it'll drop a degree or 2 when the ASIII settles in but I'm a little disapointed my SL6EF wouldn't pop the 3ghz barrier stable but lookin' at pastorjay's results I'm wondering if it might be the board after all? since others are getting 3ghz+ from the 2.4B C1.

yes im getting same overall CPU overclock as the P4B533 (but with .05 less volts at idle)

the PE boards have a killer memory controller. Cas222 all the way up the line and the 4:5 ratio is icing on the cake. sandra doesnt really show it but the other benchmarks are WAY up over the P4B533.

looks like the voltage regulation on this board is much improved too.
p4b533 = .08v flux from idle to full load
be7 = .03v flux from idle to full load

i wont be able to comment on overall stabilty until im done with with those tests.
the voltage and temp differences dont bother me at all cause i know its all BS anyways. as long as i dont near 67*c, i wont have to worry about any stupid "false" throttling. (which i have set at 25% to make sure i see it! ~ no throtting as of yet)

im still running p95 @ 164fsb....
vcore = 1.62v
ddr = 2.64v
5v = 5.00v
12v = 11.68v

cpu = 60*c
moboard = 55*c
case = 30*c

*i know there are quite a few ppl out there that are gonna want a direct P4B vs BE7 comparison...
3dm2000 32bit / 3dm2001
P4B533 165:440 = 15490 / 12542
BE7 .... 165:414 = 15704 / 12688

Danapusher,

I agree. I think it is a limitation of the board rather than my cpu. I have a BO stepping on the Gigabyte 667pe and it actually will be stable at a little higher fsb. When I found out that I had a C1, I was a little disappointed that I couldn't get to 3gh. But I have seen several that have had the sam problem on this board. The thing I hate about this Asus board is the way it overvolts. I have mine set at default and it reads 1.6v. That is one heck of an overvolt!!!

Thugs I am going to hang you out to dry if this board proves to be anything else. I am picking up one in an hour or so.

Thugs,

Does this mean you are n't gonna get a GB board?

Just joking. But I needed another post to make it to 500!

Hehe 9 more and then i have 400

THUGSROOK:
why are't you running your chip at 166fsb? that what you was running it on your Asus mobo...or am i wrong?
and
3dm2000 32bit / 3dm2001
P4B533 165:440 = 15490 / 12542
BE7 .... 165:414 = 15704 / 12688
with less mem speed your geting a better score? why?

Congrats on the 500th pastorjay and for the info too. mine overvolts but not as drastically, I set it at 1.625v and it fluctuates be tween 1.632v and 1.643. Of course Thugs and the guys have observed that on many occassions so I was expecting it Anyways like yourself I'm still stoked with it and the bandwidth compensates for the 100mhz or so I was hoping for in my book. OK I'll stop thread jacking Thugs Abit testimonial now

Exec ~ yes it does, but these PE boards are much more aggressive then the older D/E/G boards so you cant directly compare the 2. (errrr 4)
also 3:4 is not an official ratio past 132fsb

Regalk ~ when i get paid for this you can blame me for whatever you want

PhoenixOfWater ~ im still testing stability. 164fsb is good so far, gonna try 165fsb next.
this board is faster because it is just plain faster

(im gonna need to post some cas2-2-2 vs 2.5-3-3 comparisons for you guys)

Yeah, isn't official but good if it works

The main reason I'm getting this board is that my BG7 can't run 3:4 over 140MHz FSB or 4:5 over 150MHz FSB, so my $150 went all waste.

My CPU does 167MHz quite easily, so 3:4 and DDR444 would be very nice to get.

here ya go....

160 4:5 400 2-2-2 vs 160 3:4 427 2.5-3-3

3dm2k = 15466 > 15368
3dm2k1 = 12445 > 12430
quake3 = 226.4 > 223.8
ut2k3 flyby = 166.6 > 166.0
ut2k3 bot = 68.4 > 68.2

does that help?

prime95 and memtest86 both passed 5 hour loops @ 2632mhz 164fsb 411ddr Cas2522
(1.65v vcore 2.65v vdimm)
gonna try for 165 next

congrats on 500 pastorjay

Thanks Thugs.

This Abit board is looking good Thugs. May have to get one to play with just to see if I can get this 2.4b C1 stepping to 3.0. I have never had an Abit. By the way THugs, is this a two phase power design? Looks like it on the pics from Newegg. And where did you get your? Any better price than Newegg? Would also like to know if it will run more than 1 stick of Corsair xms 3200 at the tightest settings.

looks like a 3 phase power design to me (the 3 raised circles wrapped in copper wire near the cpu)

i got mine at neweggy.

i havnt tested 2 sticks ~ but i will

now that ive established a 100% stable speed~

i rechecked the bios settings for further tweeks ~ looks like i already had it right.
the settings listed in the main post showed best performance ~ i made no further changes.

so, hows everybody doing?
everyone keeping up with me so far?
good, cause i have more PE info for you to assimilate....
(i figured i should just post this before SCK asks anyways)

cas222-7 vs -6 vs -5 (164fsb 411ddr)

3dm2k 32b = 15667 > 15674 > 15673
3dm2k1 = 12631 > 12631 > 12650

x-isle = 131.6 > 131.7 > 132.0

quake3 = 230.1 > 231.8 > 232.1

ut2k3 flyby = 167.6 > 167.5 > 168.0
ut2k3 bot = 70.3 > 70.2 > 70.2

*X-Isle is very much like Serious Sam for those that dont know.
