Nice and informative thread as usual.. Looks like a good board. For those who want all of the bell and whistles, I read this:
Abit have recently informed me that they will be implementing a new strategy that will help them to deliver a wide range of features to suit the user. I recently reviewed the BE7-RAID that was missing quite a few new features. I was informed that there would be new board versions on the way that would incorporate Serial ATA, Broadcom Gigabit LAN and so on. These new models will be named BE7-B/G/S/R and Abit also say they will be doing the same with the KD7 series. So if there is just one particular feature you are seeking then one of the KD7-B/G/S/R models maybe more what you are after.
I will probably stick with my IT7 MAX until the smoke clears on the GB reviews.

...memtest86 passed 5 hours looping @ 2648mhz 165fsb 414ddr Cas2522

POW ~ not really, the better overclock comes in the form of a better memory clock

Thugs,

Still waiting to see if this thing will do more than 1 stick of ram at those speeds. Oh, decisions, decisions, decisions. I love the P4PE, but I know that it is what is limiting me.

That limitation is probably caused by the chipset, better to go with one module before GB.

(oh man, that is way too much pressure! -Tweek)

i also expected a slightly better overclock, but i ended up with some serious memory speed insted :Q

*ill be running memtest86 in 3:4 cas222 mode next ~ to see how far it can go for you guys running not such a high FSB. ill guess that 3:4 222 will cr@p out @ about 160fsb....

OK Thugs,

I am waiting with my legs crossed! How about two sticks...

Not to rush you or anything. But I could have one here Wednesday from Google.

3:4 ratio
2 sticks of ram
my 2nd stick of ram by itself to see if its any better then the 1st
as2 and a fan on moboard chipset

LMK if i forgot anything

Thanks Thugs! Really, take your time, I have until tomorrow.

Your tests so far have been on your "slow" stick of xms haven't they?

yes i am using "stick #1" from my XMS shootout ~ (in my sig)
it runs a bit slower in cas222 mode then "stick #2" did.

i dont think its gonna matter tho cause im already running my max CPU speed & w/ cas2522.

Hmm. Choices Choices. Recently the BE7 has become available
locally and the P4PE has dropped to about the same price ($US120).
Which do you think would be more stable at 166FSB DDR415 ?

I have not seen any P4PE boards that have gone that high. I would say you ahve a better chance with this Abit.

Computer show where? Pomona? I get in that for free dawg, no need to pay that silly entrance fee. THUGS, see what you can get without the memory timings. Or are you still holding on to your motto of better memory timings are better than more CPU MHz? I'm thinking of this board or the EPoX 4PEA, what do you think?

i still have to run the 3:4 memtest86 tests ~ i might do that in both cas modes to see how much further up the fsb it can go in "lame" mode.

SuperCK ~ (probably wont have time for that stick - thx tho )

Good tip Thugs! Do you just hold it in for a certain amount of time, or just push it in and let it out real quick?

Well, here I am, missing all the darn fun again, fer cryin out loud. Jeez! :| Guess I need to schedule my holiday time around Thugs' testing, huh?

I feel a little strange being in this room, it just don't seem right, maybe it's the color of the wallpaper....

Thugsrook, another fantastic thread, and some brilliant results, holy stromboli!!!!!!! :Q My mild curiousity for those boards just turned into sheer excitement, WOW !! That's a fine memory controller, jeez. I'm gonna read thru all this to get the big picture, I'll post back in a bit...

PJ ~ the Abit was much easier to overclock and find 100% stability. (as im sure you noticed by how quickly i got all this testing done so far?) :Q

i didnt need the reset button at all ~ just needed to clear bios quite a few times

it pretty much went like this...
167fsb = no boot
166fsb = boots, benches, not prime stable
165fsb = boots, benches, prime stable, M86 stable

it doesnt get much easier then that

like i mentioned earlier....
if this Abit board can boot at X fsb, then it will run close to 100% stable at that fsb
an Asus board will boot a good 10fsb higher then it should
and then crash... alot.

your running the chip at 1.65v is that more or less then the Asus mobo? have you try 1.70v to help stable it at 166fsb?
