Looks like you have tightened the nuts pretty well then If you use just "hand-force" as the Alpha guide says, the nuts get unscrewed quite often when you take the screws off.

There's quite a few reports of BE7 cold boot issues at newsgroups, so I am definately not the only one with this problem.

Yeah! pastorjay's had 24 hours to play with his new toy so I hope everything is going well.

Thugs, what kind of wire did you use for the U-mod? I definitely want to try that when my board comes in this week. Thanks!

Merci beaucoup! I have a few extra phone cords lying around so that will be easy enough. I ordered a 32CFM fan to slap on the 8942 and have an important question - sucking or blowing? Reviewers vary on that one, but the last one I read at FrostyTech said they got lower temps, about 2c, with the fan sucking. Thoughts?

The cold boot problem seems to be the one fly in the ointment on this board. Abit has had this issue on all their 845 boards dating back to the BD7.
BE7 review
At default speeds, the system is stable and performance was good. There wasn't any real problems ... Windows and all the drivers installed without a glitch. Overclocking has always been a problem with most boards. Careful adjustments are needed in the BIOS to make an overclocked system stable. While the system was overclocked, sometimes it would not bootup after restart. It would be OK after switching it off at the mains first ... then switch it back on. I mean, what kind of motherboard would it be ... if it never had any problems. That would be the day ;-)
I had a Gigabyte S370 board that had very serious cold boot issues when overclocked. Drove me crazy. I did a wire mod, which solved the issue.

If Abit doesn't come out with one, what are you leaning towards? ASUS or Gigabyte?

ok this is interesting...
im getting reports that the wire mod is not fixing the "no boot problems" :Q
(and its not a no boot problem, its a no video problem)

im gonna go out on a limb here and say this IS NOT a cpu problem.
but rather an AGP lock problem, or a memory problem.

if anyone is having this problem please try running in 1:1 memory ratio and see if that fixes it ~ thx

symptoms are:
~no vid during boot
~loss of vid during reboot
~loss of vid drivers

Interesting find, I wonder if it only affects certain cards? Like maybe certain cards can't handle the speed?

havnt heard back from anyone yet...

sounds very odd to me too ~ the eating the vid drivers thing keeps me thinking its an AGP problem.
PJ has also not experienced any problems as of yet

Using Ti4400 as well. If you read the newsgroup messages, you'll notice there's people with Radeon 7500s, 8500s, 9700s GeForce 3&4 cards and have the problem regardless of the vid card. I've been running 1:1 high for a few days now and haven't had any boot problems. Last weekend I had boot problems at this setting, so it seems to be quite random. Just have to hope Abit releases new bios soon.
