so far after setting up my new EPoX 4PEA+ (all went smooth) i tried to O/C for the first time. I set my 1.8A to 2.4 and it wouldn't boot at all.. orange monitor light. so i hit power and shut it off, hit it again and it came up. at 2.4. kinda strange.. seems like a possible boot issue to me.. rafter that it's running quite fine and stable at 2.4 now. but that one little thing kinda freaked me out. hopefully it continues to run rock solid.

im getting flooded with e-mails on this ~ this is a BIG problem :disgust:

Using a PCI card would help tell us if its something with the AGP or PCI/AGP lock......could it also be the AGP voltages? maybe upping it would help? (just giving ideas)

Oh, if no one haves any PCI video cards to test out you could try looking on the FS/FT threads.....hmm...look at what I found, two PCI video card for sale here Link... Just having a little fun thats all...

there is no agp voltage on this board.

hardware monitor says mine holds 1.5v tho.

Fix may be to "not overclock." That would stink!!! I only get a video problem when I occlock her to high. I get the beep code and everything!

Well, alright, it's the chipset, but there still has to be cause. I won't believe that this is a random occurance, there's got to be a parameter or combination of parameters that's causing this. Maybe this board with this and this setting and this voltage, blah blah blah....y'know? There's gotta be a range of parameters that's the same for everyone that's having this problem right?

well, ive got my 2.26b installed (np R&R'ing the alpha ~ no wire mod)
lets see if i get any boot problems.

Interesting. I had the same problem (cold boot)with this Gigabyte GA-8IR533 when i first got it. Weird! Anyway, mine was a simple fix. Gigabyte had shipped this board (and apparently others too)without a strap on pins 2 and 3, the normal position of the three Cmos jumper pins (1 and 2 being the clear Cmos position). I assumed that the strap wasn't needed until I installed it and the problem went away. The 845pe problem is a different issue altogether though.

a temp fix has been found for the "loss of vid when exiting bios" bug!

before leaving bios enable Force ESCD Update and it will boot.

unfortunatly that setting wont stay enabled and you have to change it each time you leave bios.
if we could enable it ALL THE TIME it might fix the cold boot issues too.

*for now id suggest lowering your OC to 133fsb before shutting down to avoid cold boot issues if you have them.

Well, I'm running 160MHz FSB 4:5 +5% Volts and haven't had cold boot problems since last sunday. The problem might be the chipset too, but I'd blame Abit, as tons of cold boot problems were reported with IT7.

Yeah, and last weekend I had problems at default 133MHz 4:5... The new BIOS seem have made the cold boot problem to appear a bit rarely at least.

Put it this way, I have never heard so much about cold boot issues than from Abit P4 board owners

I agree, but we have the same issues from different board makers using the same chipset. So at least this time around, blaming Abit makes no sense. If you want to blame them for something, blame them for leaving their customers out to dry while all this is going on.....:Q:|:frown:

Sounds like everyone has tried the newer bios, but has anyone updated to the USB 2.0 and chipset drivers from Abit dated 10-21? I also noticed the cg bios date is now showing 11-25 so maybe they updated that as well. That's probably a longshot, but who knows?
