If its a rev.1.0,or 1.01 you can flash the bios to the latest ver.(ss) and on a sloket,do a cel2-633 at 950.I would stick to the 100 mhz p3s,although their are some who run the 933 on a bh6.I have two bh6's,both have celerons, the 633,which has a 9.5 multipier for the cpu.In the soft menue,I went to 9.5x100 and set the vlt. to 1.70-1.75,and thats all there was to it.If you have the later version board,1.2,then you have the 1/4 divider for your pci bus,at 124 I think,so the higher bus speeds are a go.

If you use a Slotket that is compatible with the CPU that you intend to use, the BH6 will do.

Don?t plan to use a CPU that need 124MHz FSB, and above to O/C, the BH6 has only 1/3 pci divider (more modern Mobo has ¼ pci divider).

Your best bet is Celerons 600 or 633. (o/c to 900 or 950MHz).

gody, as others have recommended, either go w/ a C2 or a 100MHz FSB P!!!. I've read numerous posts of P!!!-850's being used on HBH6's. Remember to flash to the SS BIOS version b4 you swap processors.

FWIW I've been running an FC-PGA P!!!-650 cB0 on a rev1.02 BH6 for six months now w/o a hiccup. Using an Abit Slotket!!! and a Thermaltake Gorb for cooling. I recently lapped the bottom of the Gorb and used Arctic Silver paste.

Wait a sec here. I thought the early revs of the board are not supporting the flip chips. Are you all saying that they will?

Yes, I have a rev. 1.0 BH6 and have been running a fcpga Celeron II 566 at 850 on a Abit Slotket.

It works no problem with the BH6. Abit says the Pentium III's over 600 won't work but I haven't tried.

Abit's home page

Here are the specs for the latest bios update

BH6 Rev. 1.1
Supports the Celeron566(66),600(66),667(66),700(66)MHz CPUs, and PIII 750(100),800(100)MHz,850(100)MHz CPUs.

[ BH6 ]
Supports Celeron 633(66),667(66),700(66)MHz
CPUs

I have the same board (Rev 1.0) and am considering upgrading to a C566@850
, which is becoming hard to find, or the c600@900, which is a bit harder to overclock than the C566

Sharkys Extreme Celeron II overclockig article, Check it out.

Under the BH6 rev1.0x BIOS updates (BH6NV.EXE) it also notes that the P3-600(100) can be used, but it doesn't say anything about processors at higher speeds w/ 100MHz bus after that revision. Do you guys think a P3-700 or P3-800 with 100MHz bus will work?

JaiKnight, there have been post too numerous to count of people successfully implementing P!!!'s up to 850MHz on BH6's. Right now it appears the cC0 P!!!-700 is the overclocking cpu of choice.

Jeff H, yup I know, I've read, but they always gave Bus speeds higher than 100 with Rev1.1, so I know higher clocked CPUs work on higher Revs, but I was never too sure about Bus speeds higher than 100 on the rev1.0x. I honestly don't really know how different dividers and bus speeds work, so I want to make sure before I spend a fairly large amount of money on a new chip...

Sawbuck, which BH6 are you using? and which type of P3 is it (FCPGA, Slot1, 100MHz, 133MHz)? Thanks!

So from what I can tell above so far, I'll be ok with any 100MHz P3-Slot1 chip, and if I do get a FCPGA, then make sure it's not the 133MHz type and get a slotket with it?

According to Abit, the BH6 v1.01 does not officially support the new coppermines. Having said that, I am running a Celeron2 (Coppermine128) 566@850 with no problems. I am running it at 1.7v which is very similar to PIII voltages, which means I am essentially running a PIII 850. Abit says there are power issues with the older boards, but I think they are just covering their asses!

The 1.0x BH6 boards will run 100, 103, 122, 124 and 133 mhz. All with a 1/3 PCI divider. Like I mentioned above, I am running a 550E @ 733 mhz; that's a 100mhz FSB CPU running at 133mhz FSB. The BH6 detected it as a coppermine and gave it the proper voltage, and I run the QN BIOS.

All 1.1 boards have more FSB speeds and a 1/4 PCI divider.

Cool, I think I'll go pickup a P3-700 once I get a chance then! (FCPGA since it's a bit cheaper than Slot 1) Any recommendations on a slotket to get or are they generally all the same?
1Krazyfool: Will the board auto-detect voltages at default speed? (I know you said it auto-detected, just not sure if that was when you o/ced it or not)

JaiKnight, if you go w/ the Abit Slotket!!!, Asus Slotket or MSI you won't go wrong. The early Abit Slotket!!!'s had trouble w/ FSB's of 124MHz and above, but the recent revisions don't. The Slotket's w/ the plastic carrier will give you the best retention in the cpu slot. If I remember correctly AllStar Shops has the Abit Slotket!!! for either $9 or $11, which is the cheapest I've seen it anywhere.

My rev1.02 BH6 autodetected the correct voltage for my FC-PGA P!!!-650 cB0 (1.65v), all I had to do was tell it the FSB and multiplier (wouldn't have had to indicate the multiplier, as the P!!!'s are clock-locked, but I set it anyway).

WOW! Thanks for the outpouring of info people. I was planning this huge upgrade, but now I guess I will just go buy a new processor and save me some cash.

OK I did some experimenting. I flashed to the latest bios, SS. Hey I was only 8 updates behind. Slipped my bros PIII 800\100 slot 1 in, and viola, it worked just fine. I'll be ordering my 850 tomorrow.

I have a P3700 at 933 on the BH6. I have seen reports of others running 750s at 1GHz. My BH6 1.01 flashed to SS bios self-reports a 1/3 PCI divider at 133, but it PROVIDES 1/4 pci divider when running at the 133MHz FSB. I have verified this with several hardware testing programs, not to mention the fact that my hard drive and PCI cards didn't die.
