It still carries a 360 dollar price tag, but its cheaper than the Striker. Good feature set as well, but that is to be expected at its price.

Sweet looking board!

Abit claims that this is the best overclocking board they ever build. I hear doing 650 FSB, I don't know if that's even possible! :Q

Gary I hope you have this baby in your lab to play with.

We are waiting on a BIOS update. The board has a hole from 450~495 FSB right now that will not let you boot with several different CPU choices (some do, some do not). It will boot directly at 500 and so far we are up to 525 stable but there is a little work that needs to be done on memory timings and FSB holes. Overall, the quality is great and stability has been very good, just some BIOS demons to slay.

Thats good to hear . . .may have to pick up one. Its price tag, while steep, is a bit easier to stomach than the Striker.

Is there a word on when that bios update will be coming down, or when your review will be up?

I haven't narrowed down the final motherboard choice for my new build yet.

There is already a beta bios out, and testers at XtremeSystems are already giving input to abit. . So I would not think it will take long for issues to get worked out.

Actually there are already at least 2 beta versions out and they have been working on a third (or what may be the next rev).

AT's is waiting for an updated BIOS to complete their's.

I went ahead and ordered the board from eWiz on Friday. The two mobo brands that have never given me any trouble are Asus and Abit. I hope I don't regret my decision with this, it wasn't a cheap board.

I really dont know where to ask this question, but I'm still on S939 and DDR. Could I ask, how does FSB relate to CPU and Memory clocks on Core2Duo machines? For instance, if you say it can boot at FSB 500, is memory 1:1, using a multiplier/divider (I would think so)? And at something like 500 FSB, would that mean an insanely low multiplier like 6x to get 3 GHz on an E6300?

If I bought some cheaper DDR 533/667 memory, are there boards with multiplier/divider options to make that lower clocked memory work with a high CPU overclock?

You need to remember that the FSB and the memory bus speeds are independent in this setup. Which means you can run them at completely different speeds. However, there are certain speed ratios that give better performance due to less "jitter" in terms of moving the data across the different busses.

As for low multipliers, well, just remember that not too long ago, 6x multiplier was considered extremely high, so high that many boards used that as the limit as to how high things could go simply because no one would ever make a CPU that used a multiplier that high. When CPUs did hit that speed, lots of people had to toss their motherboards away and get new ones to use the newer CPUs.

It has only been very recently that the CPU/chipset manufacturers have been getting the ratio of CPU speed to bus speed back in line to how it was years ago. Heck look at the Pentium 2, its fastest CPU only had a 4.5x multiplier!

Gotcha. So DDR2-533 rated memory would work and I could OC the CPU independently of that?

Sorry if this sounds stupid, but I've been on S939 for a while as a more casual user. I haven't aggressively overclocked since the Celeron 300a days on a 440BX board I remember scotch taping pins to get the right bus speed and voltage, etc.

Since I'm not after every last bit of performance, I was thinking I could go with an E4300 since it has a high multiplier and get a board that doesnt necessarily get max FSB stability, or go with an E6300 and a better mobo, but cheaper memory. I'd rather get more CPU clock at the expense of memory bandwidth because I mostly use it to transcode from my HTPC.

EDIT: Forgot to say thanks. I appreciate your help, Fallen Kell.

Well, my IN9 showed up today . . . unfortunately, the rest of my parts aren't due to arrive until friday. So all I can do is ogle the beauty of this board until then.

I know how you feel. I have everything but the TIM at the house right now.

I'm all set up now. There haven't been any issues with the board yet, but I have not attempted any OCing yet.

The board layout is solid. I like the fact that there are plenty of fan headers on the board itself, but thats hardly unique. I also like the fact that they include mounting brackets for a 40x40x10 fan on the NB, but thats hardly unique as well.
