Abit KT7 Motherboard and What Soundcard?

I was just reading another forum regarding Abit KT7 MB and soundcards. I was planning to get a Vortex2 soundcard from Aureal for this MB. However, the gist I got was that Aureal soundcards (which include the MX300) may or may not work with this MB. Also, Soundblaster cards also appear to have a problem.

Can anyone recommend a soundcard to work with this MB?

I have zero problems running a SB Live Value on KT7's. I have also ran MX300's with no problem with the Vortex drivers (not the Diamond MX300 drivers on the CD) They work best for me in the 3rd PCI slot.

Also start out with only your video card installed when you install Windows, and then add the sound card & drivers next, followed by your modem, and other cards one at a time.

I have no problems with my Sound Blaster live value on my KT7 board either.

Avoid the Diamond mx400, they haven't updated there drivers since May and far to many game have corrupted sound when DirectSound hardware acceleration is enabled.

No problems w/my KT7-R and SB Live Value........................
But,.......I did not install all the multimedia stuff from the SB cd............there was already a program in WinME plus one w/ATI Raedon cd...........(didn't think I needed three programs?)

Just to be safe I dumped my MX300 and bought a SB live gamer when I put together my new system and no problems here either. Side note, I have the SB emulation disabled in the device manager.
