Abit KT7 or Asus A7V ?
HELP ... I can't decide. I've had experiences with both Abit and Asus. Both manufacturers are EXCELLENT, that's why it's so hard to choose.

I've got a an unlocked Duron 700 (without pencil technique) it's crying to be overclocked.

KT7 for sure...
if you read around you'll find the general concensus is that KT7 overclocks better...
i've got the RAID version running w/ a couple of maxtor 5400rpm ata100 drives... kicks butt

I also wanted to post this question. I'll need to set up a middle-sized LAN, about 50-100 PC's, and i definitely want to go for AMD. I've read about 1K comparsions & stuff, but still don't have the answer, i even ended up confused: wheter the A7V supports ATA 100 or not. One more thing: don't want to overclock them, i just want fine, fast systems, as stable as a rock, with Duron 700's. For my own PC i'd realluy like to run that 800 T-Bird at 1GHz

The A7V Rev 1.02 is a solid board. The AGP Pro slot adds additional voltage pins. Haven't personally seen a ABIT KT7 yet.

KT7 most definately, but then again I'm biased. I've got a KT7 Raid and love it.

rosencrantz, do you have any information or a link about agp pro cards? Are these cards coming out soon? Thanks.

rosencrantz, thanks for all the info!!! How long do you think it will be (best guess) before these pro cards actually filter down to the mainstream market? I guess I'm asking...If I was to buy a motherboard today (Asus a7v with agp pro support) would I actually ever put an agp pro card in it before I buy a new motherboard in say 1 1/2 to 2 years? If not, then I shouldn't even consider that feature as a real bonus. Thaks again!

rosencrantz, thanks again. Guess it's pretty much a toss-up between these two motherboards. I'm leaning towards the A7V simply because it seems to be (purely on what other people on this board seem to think) more stable then the KT7. And since I'm not really sure if I will be overclocking my system much stability is probably what I'm looking for. Now if I could find a deal on it!

I just returned from some motherboard shopping and found one other difference between these two boards. It appears that the asus board only has 5 pci slots as opposed to the abits 6. The kbit also has an isa slot. I'd hate to run out of pci slots if I went with the asus!

seriously though...I already have 4 pci devices. 1 Sound 2 ethernet 3 scsi 4 modem 5 ??? If I add a tuner/capture card in addition to my agp voodoo 3 then I'm all out of pci slots. Is there anything else I missed? Do many boards only have 5 pci slots? Seems kind of strange that such a new mb has only 5. No isa slot to boot...couldn't hurt to have one shared with a pci slot. Has anyone with this card (asus a7v) ran into any problems running out of slots?

I still don't understand why abit kept going with HPT controllers...
the performance on those HPT controllers are no where near Promise controllers and they sure gave you a lot more trouble trying to config and get everything right...

even if abit has the RAID build in....the performance on it is still not at all impressive...
