Abit or Asus?

I am looking at motherboards for a new Socket 939 3500+ PC. I was thinking of either Abit or this Asus. I am wondering which is a better buy and if there is problems with either.

I'd probably get the Abit unless you have a use for that wifi stuff that comes with the Asus. Then again I haven't read a review of either of the boards, but Abit and Asus are generally both great.

If you get the Abit, make sure its a Rev 1.1 board and you flash to the 1.3 bios before you setup anything. After you do that, its a smokin board.

If you want a VIA chipset for your S939 board, go with Abit.
The Abit AV8 series boards appear to be as stable as the Asus equivalents, and they have the added benifit of being perhaps the best overclocking S939 VIA based boards.

If you want an nVidia chipset for S939, well, umm, you'll probably have to pick another manufacturer.
Abit, last I checked wasn't going to use the current nVidia A64 chipsets.
Asus would win by default, but they don't yet have an NF3 based S939 board either.
Unless you want to pick another manufacturer, or wait for Asus, stick with the Abit AV8 solutions.

Actually forget my above post, this board still has loads of memory problems even after a board revision and latest bios update

See this Anandtech reviews: Socket 939 Roundup: Battle at the Top. MSI has a very good S939 motherboard, the K8N Neo2 nVidia nForce3 Platinum. I just bought it. I proberbly will receive it tomorrow. I'll let you know how great the board is!

I'd take either of those.. I'd pretty much just go with whichever is lower in price.. they are both good I am sure!

Abit is best known to cater to the OCing crowd as much as they can

Asus usually OC very well though not especially made for it but tend to be rock solid.

Try again Captn, I tried the board with top notch OCZ 3200 2-3-2-6 EL memory and the same problems happened, why dont you go read the 939 board section of the forums at Abit, everyone is having the same problem. Hopefully the official 1.3 bios will fix the issues, Im using the beta bios atm
