? about spyware

Hi
does anyone know of spyware software that does not have to be installed to use.i just hate installing stuff like that. i'm carefull of what i install and i don't have any problems but just for curiosity i would like to scan for ad & spyware

I don't know any Spyware program that doesn't require installation, but you might check the Spyware FAQ sticky at the top of this forum. Though, between Ad-aware, Spybot, and SpywareBlaster, there's nothing to worry about.

The programs BlueWeasel listed are quality pieces of software and I don't think you should worry about installing them. That said, I do not know of a spyware program that does not require installation. I currently only have Ad-aware installed on my system. A quick look at the install log shows that it does not copy any files outside of its Program Files directory and the only reg keys are for uninstall. You can create your own install free version by installing Ad-aware, copying its folder, and then uninstalling. Then zip up the folder and store it where ever you want.

That's a great suggestion....I never thought of that.

and that's a great suggestion atthegates thanks, i will do that.. i really never had a problem with adaware or spybot, i just help alot of people out with their computers and i just realy don't like installing anything on someone elses computer.it seems alot of people have problems with ads and the like so i thought i'd look for something i didn't have to install.

I have absolutely no problem installing any of those programs on people's computers if it keept them from calling me every ten minutes to get rid of crap.
