Absolutely EPIC snowstorm coming

It's going to take 2 days to recover from the physical exertion of shoveling? You Southerners are soft.

Hahah no.. There's so much snow in my neighborhood, my Honda Fit simply will not be able to get out. Plus a huge tree fell over blocking one of the entrances.

Similar here. Of 3 exits for my neighborhood, one is blocked by cables (i think telephone lines), one by a tree, and I think the third (church/school) is open...but not plowed.

Shovelling 6 inches was bad enough, I can't imagine 2-3 feet over the course of 24 hrs.

It really depends on the type of snow. Sometimes 3 feet of snow is easier to remove than 6 inches of snow. Very light fluffy snow takes minimal work to remove - just sweep back and forth with the shovel as if it's a broom, working your way down through the depth. Heck, I'll bet some of the people with light fluffy snow could have succeeded clearing their sidewalks with a leaf blower. Heavy, damp snow - labor.

Hey all! I *JUST* got my cable back. Its safe to say we got pounded. Heres a view of the front yard:





You see the powerbox barely peeking out of the snow there? Its a little over two feet tall...




A tree that was laying across the road right in front of the house. I cut it down with a hand saw enough so people could get by. Gonna have to to some more later.




This pic shows how the snow is the wet/heavy stuff - making the trees sag bigtime.
