AC - DC EMF question...

Ok, so I got my hands on some fans... They're, i think, 120mm across... but they're AC (not DC like the rest of your comp's guts). You plug it right into the wall and it works. Check them out: Muffin Muffin XL

Anyway, I heard that AC devices are bad news for your computer insides because they produce something like crazy EMF radiation? I really have no idea and I don't have (or know I have) any meter or scope to determine whether this is true or not...

Can someone help me out here?

WHy would you put this fan in your pc anyway? This is like an atic fan or something. As for your question I dont think that the EMI put out by one fan would be that great. It would make your monitor fuzzy if its close to it.

This is the only fan I have. Well, I have maybe 20 of them so figured, instead of spending money on, you know, regular DC fans like the rest of the world, I'd use what I have.

I just don't want the fans to scramble my hard drives, that's what I'm concerned about. But I think the space between the read/write head and the platter is too small for an insignificant fan to mess up. A monitor I can understand since the particles have to travel so far from the gun to the screen. I have yet to see if the fan will actually mess up the monitor. If not, then I'll have confidence that my gear will be safe.
