For those that utilize a mobile machine strictly on AC power, removing the battery would lighten the overall machine weight. Some users find lighter machines to be preferrable. A great deal is personal preference, but could see the advantage of lessening the weight if possible. A battery filler would essentially remove the mass of the battery, and replace the vacant space with a plastic filler of some kind. Implementations vary by manufacturer, both in design and name (believe Sony calls this a "battery saver" for their Vaio line).Originally posted by: logic1485
what is the point of a batter filler?

As others have said, Acer survives in Asia. It's a common name in the Taiwan market and probably a known brand in most households.
If you took a brand like Dell to a Taiwanese person (who hasn't spent time in the States), they'd probably be asking, "WTF is a Dell?"
