Thanks for the response, I posted on another site as well and got nothing at all.
In the few days I was waiting the Monitor already arrived. More than anything I was just hoping to get some feed back from someone who might already have one as its often hard to trust the reviews on New Egg.
As far as Budget if this monitor had been any more than the 147 bucks I probably wouldnt have bought it as I had an adequate 19 inch Samsung Monitor I was using.
Ive had the Samsung for at least three years now and it was starting to feel too cramped and I was starting to notice the picture quality diminish somewhat thought it wasnt as noticeable when gaming. It was time for the old Samsung to go.
A 23 monitor with 1920 x 1080 resolution for 147 dollars before tax and with free shipping is pretty inexpensive. As you point out its not HDMI and it doesnt have LED backlighting which is all the rage these days for obvious reasons. But at that price I decided to take a chance.
Now perhaps Im not as picky as some people might be when it comes to monitors, as my needs are pretty basic. Im not doing CAD or graphic design work, only gaming, web surfing, and light MS Office use. For those things I must say that I am extremely pleased with how this monitor is working.
The monitor arrived quickly as I have all my purchases shipped to my work address which is very close to New Eggs warehouse. It arrived in the Monitor box and not in a shipping carton, but as this was something several of the reviews on New Egg mentioned I wasnt surprised. Despite the lack of an over pack box and the rough handling I know it received from UPS the Monitor arrived intact.
After set up I was happy to find NO dead or stuck pixels, something that can happen on just about any monitor. Some of the reviewers on New Egg did receive units with dead/stuck pixels. One reviewer said he bought four units and all four had dead pixels, but most of the reviewers were like me with no pixel problems.
Color balance, black and white, contrast, and brightness are all exceptional as compared to my Samsung. There is no noticeable back light bleeding, and I saw no ghosting in games.
It actually took some time to adjust to the larger monitor and different resolution while gaming, but the added size and better resolution really makes games pop now.
It turned out to be a good purchase for me, and while there are obviously better monitors on the market that include more bells and whistles this one was a big upgrade from what I had been using. So if anyone has an older monitor that they are looking to upgrade and a limited budget (or just cheep like me) this one is worth looking into.
