Do these have a headphone jack? I'm looking at these for 21.95 (13 W satellites, 27 W sub) or the ACS48X's at Compgeeks for 42.50 + shipping (20 W sat's, 40 W sub). But the 48's don't have a headphone jack...so I'm reconsidering.

Hmm, does anyone know if splitting the output from the computer and plugging the speakers and a pair of headphones in (when you want to) will be bad in any way?

qacwac: You could just cancel the order (within 30 minutes of making it you can cancel it). Cancel by going to the "my account" part and orders, then hit cancel. Then go to another site that has the coupons (like fatwallet.com), click the link to put them in your basket, and go get the speakers.

Yeah I also want to know if this set has headphone jacks? I know you can buy a spliter but that will only add to the total cost of the speakers

No, these speakers does not have headphone jacks, a little draw back. But if you have a sound blaster live then you got no problems unless you buy two...

I went ahead and ordered these...they look like the exact same speakers as the acs340's...but without the bass and treble controls... ill just swap them with my gf's acs340, im sure she'll appreciate the imac colors more than me

These speakers do have bass control.

The bass control is on the front of the sub. The satelite has a volume control for sats and sub. There is no treble control.

oh well ya see, the acs340's have bass and treble controls on the satellite itself which i think its a definitly nifty feature. I mean why put the bass control on the subwoofer if its gonna be somewhere prolly not within easy reach, especially since its not magnetically shielded. Same problem i had with my acs-48's... The only reason this is a factor me is because i live in an Apt. with a really b!tchy downstairs neighbor. i like to turn the bass down with just a flick of a knob.

Sure that'll work. The only thing at issue here is that the
bass control knob is on the subwoofer itself, not on the satellites.
As long as you can access the knob when necessary (or never, if
you never fiddle with it), it's not an issue for you.

If you are in a situation where you need to continually modify
the bass level, then having the control on the subwoofer is going
to get annoying...

By the way, I got these speakers from Buy.com, and they are very
good sounding speakers. Especially for the money. They are pretty
heavy, too. Buy can't be making too much on these after free shipping
is factored in!

Got mine today and I'm impressed. Lots of base and wattage. BTW, the bass control is easy to change with your foot, so if you put it under your desk, you're all set. If you're into the case moding thing, you can also use the extra colored faceplates to dress up any 80mm fans and the knobs will fit on your baybus pots.

It just means don't put the sub on top of your monitor. Under your desk would be fine.

speakers that are not magnetically shielded (like this sub, and most bookshelf speakers) will mess up your monitor if placed near it. these satellites are magnetically shielded, so you can put them right next to your monitor if you want.

...which is not an issue, because no one in their right mind
would put a subwoofer under their monitor! Talk about a surefire
prescription for crappy sound...
