Game is ok but suffers from many of the same problems of D3 (namely pathetically bad story and NPCs that you don't care about at all). I like the loot a bit better than D3 and the gameplay is more interesting (D3 puts me to sleep). My friend didn't like it though and went back to playing D3 and said he felt the gameplay was a lot better, which I disagree with. I really like the skill gems
I don't really get the respec'ing here. I could see not allowing it if it was the actual skills but since this is all passive limiting it as much as they have just seems pointless, especially since so many of the branches have similarities. The +Dex/Str/Int seems like a waste as well. I think fewer branches (that you could more easily plan out) but with more incremental improvements would work a lot better. I have no more interest in re-rolling a character than I would otherwise.
This is just another middling hack and slash game. Diablo 3 and Torchlight are the same for me. They're decent in some ways but all fall well short of being great. Honestly that seems to be the standard for the genre now, and I think it needs shaken up badly.
