i was agreeing up until i realized he just hates the typical black leather bikers, not necessarily shitty riders. crotch rocket assholes can do no wrong in his eyes, and thats generalizing.

No, he's not saying that. He's saying that crotch rocket guys don't annoy the shit out of him while he's trying to take a nap inside his house. My neighbor across the street has a Harley with open pipes that is so loud I can hear it idling in his driveway from anywhere inside my house with all the windows and doors shut. I like the guy but it must be so tiring to ride that bike or to even ride near him.

^ My neighbor is the same.

He spends about 5-10 minutes just sitting in the driveway revving his bike and it is EXTREMELY loud. I had no idea it took that long to warm the motor. But I'm sure people will rush into this thread claiming it's clearly for his safety and nothing more.

Fvck that. It would be for my safety if I had flashing lights on my car and everybody who sees them gets off the road. I can't do that because I don't own the road. If these people need a 200 decibel bike to be safer they should buy a damn car. I agree the bike's volumes are as annoying as sh*t. I had to cut sentence talking to somebody recently while a couple of idiots rode by. Then on our car trip their crap almost woke up our kids having a nap in the car.

Haha! Freaking Adam has it right. I've always Hated those 40+ y/o douchebags that started riding when they are 40+ and buy the loudest most annoying pos hard-ley they can find and think they are motorcycle riders. Real bikers ride sportbikes. Who wants a 800lb underpowered pos. Give me a lightweight bike with the hp/weight ratio of a Lambo and let me have some windy roads. I like to be one with my bike and the road. No way you could be one with the bike and the road on a bike with ape hangers and 1" of suspension travel.

Even that doesn't always work. :/

But yeah, definitely agreed on the noise...I'd rather listen to pretty much anything other than an ear-bleeding Harley exhaust.

Haven't seen the video but agree with the comments so far. I really don't like loud bikes. Hell, I feel guilty when I start my GS500 in the morning and have the choke on for a minute or two so it can warm up.

You really only need to let it sit for 20-30 seconds at most. I sometimes don't even do that. Just ride off and keep the revs low for the first few minutes and you'll be fine.

Real "Bikers" = Men/women who ride for the pure joy of the sport. People who always choose a bike over a cage unless the weather is too dangerous or uncomfortable (eg distracting) to ride.

RUBS (Rich Urban Bikers) = Middle-age men/women who buy a "lifestyle" (sportbike or cruiser), only ride in perfect weather, and only ride short distances to bars/restaurants to show off to other RUBS.

There's a harley asshole like that near me. I work night shifts and get home at around 6:30am. Every damn day this asshole goes down my hill at 7:30 or so in the morning engine braking the entire way down as loud as possible. I'm tired enough as it is and falling asleep isn't easy for me so when I finally do, this dick wakes me up. I was held over for about an hour one shift and on my way home as I was coming up my hill, that asshole was coming down it. For a couple seconds I really thought about crashing into him.

On the other end, there's a guy across the street with a harley, he keeps the bike quiet in the mornings, no complaints about him at all. I don't care if you have a loud bike, be loud as you want, in the afternoon not seven in the morning. That's just being an immature prick.

I got stuck behind a bike with straight pipes in a single lane construction zone for about 20 miles one time. It was surprisingly draining.

Chiming in with a lack of love for the late middle aged harley types. Had a harley owner 4 doors down who never appeared to *RIDE* the damn thing. But every weekend, like clockwork:

*ROAR*POTATOPOTATOchokePOTATOPOTATOchokePOTATOchokechokePOTATOPOTATO*ROAR* etc at ear splitting volume for 10-30 minutes.

Harley tried to patent >that< sound? Yeesh. It'd be more pleasant to listen to their CEO fart into a megaphone.

LOL, had one near me that did the EXACT same thing, just revving the crap out of it in the driveway, trying to tweak the carb's I guess. the whole "look at me!, isn't my machine loud and awesome!" smacks of a 10 year old's mindset..

Loud noise causes stress, and lots of it. I tried some fairly loud pipes on my bike once, after half an hour I was looking for a cliff to drive off. I like a little rumble, but loud sucks.

Until this very moment, I didn't believe a person could fit that much stupid in a single paragraph. You sir, are a true squid. I salute you, and it's my sincerest wish that whoever receives your organs gets many years of trouble free service out of them.

Now get out there and ride just as fast as you can!

That's an interesting perspective. I've met a couple of fellows who claim that a "real" biker doesn't own a car at all. I've met one who says you have to have shot someone for the club to be considered a biker, and another that rides 10,000 miles a year and say's he isn't a biker at all.
I assume this all stems from the need to differentiate ourselves from others, and construct a logic that demonstrates superiority of one group over another. I still don't understand why it always has to be us vs them.

There will always be the posers... I see them all the time at some of the bike nights around here. $30 grand into their harley or custom bike with a ton of chrome. They've owned it for 3 to 5 years and have less than 500 miles on it.

Then there are people like me that average 10 to 12k miles a year and think nothing of packing the bike and doing a 3000 mile vacation.

Loud pipes don't save lives either... they don't hear you coming... only going. Perhaps those with loud pipes should actually learn how to ride their bike... That would be a lot safer than loud pipes.

I'm gonna put louder pipes on just for this thread full of fucktards.

Why are people who dislike deafening noise "fucktards"? I could care less about what someone else does as long it doesn't interfere with me, having a bike that's so loud it sets off car alarms when it goes down the street just degrades everyone's quality of life, well everyone except the other shitheads who think rattling every eardrum within 1/2 mile is their god given right..

I didn't get past his hand wave complaint so I don't know what else he said.

I move to the side when I am driving for lane splitting bikes as well, except that I prefer they keep both hands occupied with the control of their bike rather than acknowledging my incredible sacrifice of moving over in my lane a foot.
