Adding a switch to my network.

I currently have a speedtouch 510 v3.7 (adsl modem/router/4port 10 meg switch)

I wish to add 10/100 to my network and want to know if I plu in a 10/100 switch will the network run at 10/100 or will it be speed limited by the switch on the speedtouch 510 v3.7.

I think I can use a crossover cable to link the speedtouch to a 10/100 switch i.e MDX-I to MDX-I. Then plug my PC's into the new switch to get potential 100 meg ethernet rather than only 10.

As my internet connection is only 512k or 0.5 meg. Originally only having 10 meg switch was not a problem. But now my network is growing and I do not want to have to buy a new router.

Any comments appreciated.

It will work fine, and speeds between 10/100 ports can be 100mbit. In your case, that's the preferred solution to the slow switch in the router.
