CT scan on Monday, I am stable! They did find small flotsam in my lungs that is too small to be determined but...they are close to nodules that haven’t changed since Jan 2015 & I have been sick with an upper respiratory infection so they are not concerned.

We solider onward, 31 months of Opdivo...

Yay! Wish you a healthy and happy Christmas season!!

Long overdue update. It was 4 yrs ago today when I discovered the swollen lymph node in my neck. Life has continued & thanks to Science & technology I have lived to see the birth of my first great grandchild ( a boy) and lived to see my son walk in cap & gown for his UMass graduation.

This drug at the post three year mark is keeping me alive but side effects are mounting. I scan again in the middle of June so we shall see. Cancer tends to do what it wants, whenever it wants.

In other news, my landlord sold the house, we have till August 1st to get out, not so great as rents have skyrocketed

Still employed four days a week, I have done well, so well they decided to hire a guy for the day I don’t work so it’s nice to know I still bring value to the company.

As always, I am just grateful to still be here

What a lovely coincidence; I was just remarking to my wife about you this morning. She and I were watching a little bit of TV and a pembrolizumab commercial came on; she commented about the great impact immunotherapy has made on cancer management and I brought your story up as an example. Glad to have an update with how you're doing!

Well, hey, I'm grateful you're still here too . . . too!

What a lovely coincidence; I was just remarking to my wife about you this morning.

Indeed, Jean. I awoke this morning to two pm's from my comrade in arms esquared. In the first, he was wondering if I'd heard from you, being worried about your extended absence from posting here. In the second, that 'ol super sleuth had tracked down your twitter account which featured a pic of you hugging your son at his graduation. Lovely, Jean!

In other news, my landlord sold the house, we have till August 1st to get out, not so great as rents have skyrocketed.
Well, dang, Jean, tell that mate of yours to take off his apron and go get a man job.

^^^ To quote the very words of "that mate," usually expressed directly after he'd verbally yanked down the pants of some hapless other poster and made hilarious fun of his now viciously exposed tiny, tiny tool, "Joking, I'm joking . . . it was joke, damn it."

Thank you for the update. Really wish I could think of something clever to say but has an undercurrent of heartfelt empathy, instead I'll just say you're a super-fan-fucking-tastic hero. Wishing you the best during this battle.

The day I hit the three year mark on Opdivo, I remarked to one of the chemo aides that I felt like a contestant in the Hunger Games. She put down her equipment, took both my hands in hers & said “ you my dear are Katniss Everdeen” May the odds continue to be forever in my favor!

They informed me awhile ago that I am considered a long term survivor. Lots of labs get drawn for the research bench, I guess they are trying to figure out why some do so well for so long on this drug. Hoping my samples give them some answers to help help those who will come after me.

Btw, I get invited to various MGH Cancer Center events & got to tour their lung cancer research lab & meet some of their top research Docs, it was amazing, the science is mind blowing!

I too am grateful you are still here. I've stayed away four months so it's really nice to see a recent (fairly) positive update from you when I pop in.

Long story short, haven’t read it yet but Oncologist says my new CT scan is good. I also went to Mass Eye & Ear to be looked at because my eyess are so bloodshot & painful I look like a Wolverine.

Eye doc said no eye damage yet, eye pressure good, dialated my pupils ( that was fun said nobody ever) first step rewetting drops, next step tear duct plugs which I think I will go for as the 1st set is temporary, last step is steroids. She thinks the problem is related to the Opdivo, so just one more thing to look out for.

In other news the old landlord sold this house literally two days before the auctioneer showed up! He promised us funds to help us relocate & isn’t returning calls. We have till July 31st to be out & am not sure I will be able to swing it, rents here are skyrocketing due to the casino going up. Will be contacting legal & tenant assistance groups to know my options. The thought of having to give up my cats is breaking my heart

Sounds like a mixed report. Good luck finding a new place. I wouldn't give up my kitties for anything. I'm cool with a tent if it came to that.

We have lived here for almost 11 years, we have an estoppal that says we were good tenants, always paid the rent & never violated lease terms. The SOB hadn’t made a house note payment in at least a year! Had he been honest with us, I could have rented the place next door at an affordable rate. At this point I am looking into seeing if there is anyway to buy a cheap Mobile home. Trailer park life is better than life on the streets. That man assured me I could live out the rest of my days here! The betrayal hurts so badly!

One other nice piece of news is I signed up to participate in an MGH Genome project, more blood draws for science!

There was a time I really looked down on trailers. Now, it's actually an appealing proposition. I appreciate the small size and simplicity.

You're in town if I remember right? You might be able to find something affordable out in the country. Around here there's little places tucked into the corners that are affordable, especially for people with your rental history. Good luck in any case. Put the word out locally you need a place. The right person may hear, and have the perfect place for you :^)
