Adobe flash pluggin crashing constantly

I have a very annoying problem for the last 2 weeks I can't seem to fix.

It happens mostly when I'm watching videos but also happens when I'm surfing the web or playing words with friends on facebook.

My computer freezes and doesn't respond until I control/alt/delete. I'll see 2 flash player pluggins running and I have to "end process" to unfreeze the computer. At that point the computer is responsive again but I have to reload all the pages I have open because they all show "The Adobe pluggin has crashed".

I've uninstalled Adobe flash and re-installed it fresh, but I still have the same problem.

Do you think it's because my AMD video drivers are outdated? I'm still running 12.3 because it's stable and I heard bad things about 12.4, but now I think 12.6 is out.

Can someone help me fix this other than re-installing Windows?

I have Vista 64bit and running the latest Flash 11.3

Thanks

I use the Uninstall Flash Player guide from Adobe to fix it for both IE and Firefox; just takes a few minutes. Seems like either browser updates break the player, or player updates conflict with the browser plugin manager. I don't even mess with flash anymore when it breaks; just run the Adobe flash uninstaller, reboot and then reinstall the the latest version.

This is right on the money!
Had the same issue with firefox a week or so ago and the uninstaller method worked.

I also remember reading something about Realplayer conflicts if you're running that too, but i'm not, so i didnt read those fixes.
Here is the Flash with RealPlayer installed fix

I am using Firefox but do not use realplayer.

You're not paying me to fix your problem. I have never responded to a post I haven't thoroughly read, on AnandTech forums, or anywhere else. And you stated absolutely nothing which would indicate that you had downloaded "uninstall_flash_player.exe" and used that to uninstall all instances and remnants of macromedia flash, as outlined in the Adobe procedure. Keep your rude comments to yourself.

Wow, I guess I assumed a "senior" member of the forum would be a little smarter than you. Anybody with a brain would assume I used the uninstaller.......

However, the Firefox listed fix is to uninstall 11.3 and install 11.2, which worked, not uninstall and re-install 11.3.

I have the same problem using Firefox 14.0.1 and flash 11.3 r300.
For me the problems started though with Firefox 13 and flash 11.2 and got even worse with the updates.

I just assumed it was my aging system not having enough horsepower for the newer software. But after playing around with IE, Opera, and Iron (a less googlefied version of Chrome) which seemed to work fine, I think it is some sort of conflict with Firefox and the newer versions of flash.

Fore the time being I followed the guide here http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/flash-113-crashes and am using flash 10.3.

Thanks for the link. Been running into Flash Player causing this issue for a while now. It's intermittent but I'm hopeful this will take care of it. I appreciate the help.

Yeah, well anyone with half a brain would know when someone is just trying to help and not be so rude.
Here is to hoping you get ZERO help in the future on here with that attitude.

A senior member should know that uninstalling through the control panel automatically runs the uninstaller.exe.

Uninstalling and running 10.3 now with no issues.

Thanks PhatTweeker.

Since I'm the senior member you've decided to keep talking smack about, I'm not sure which is more laughable; your juvenile self-righteous arrogance or your total ignorance, but your ignorance is glaringly obvious.

Very simplified just for you; There is no Microsoft or Adobe executable file named "uninstaller.exe". The Add/Remove Programs or Programs and Features applet, in Control Panel, accesses the native Microsoft executable file, located in the System32 directory, named "msiexec.exe" and msiexec.exe then accesses the registry looking for the product code of the program to be uninstalled. It then attempts to verify the corresponding product code registry information to determine if that product has it's own uninstaller, and then hands over the task.

For this reason a poorly written third-party uninstaller can potentially result in left behind registry data, directories, libraries and files that cause corruption when that product is reinstalled, and in turn can cause other Windows software and other third-party software to work improperly or crash.

Recognizing this was a problem with recent versions of Macromedia Flash, Adobe Systems solution was to publish the tutorial I linked to. The Adobe tutorial details the additional manual uninstallation steps required to completely uninstall the Flash Player, both before and after running the Flash uninstaller. The additional manual uninstallation steps are not performed by simply uninstalling Flash player via the Microsoft Add/Remove Programs or Programs and Features applet.

Glad to see that you're happy with a stop-gap solution that leaves you running an outdated and vulnerable product; that really says everything there is to know about you.

Sorry kid, your wrong, it worked. YOUR theory did NOT work, still had same issues. The fix is to install 10.3 or 11.2, not 11.3 as you suggested.

So there go's all that you thought you knew.

If you get a job or something, you probably won't have time to average 58 posts a month. I'd highly suggest NOT getting a job in the computer field. lol
