You can always back up the registry and roll back if it doesn't work...seems to be worth a shot in my opinion.

Seems a pretty harmless registry change.

Give it a try if you feel Aero is worthwhile having.

The only reason I like Aero Glass is because the plain look kind of bothers me. But I can only get a non-Aero interface in VMWare, and since that is how I run Vista most of the time, then I guess I am SOL

It definitely seems fairly harmless but I would make a backup just in case.

If you read the comments on that page, you'll see that the hack worked only on beta and RC versions of Vista and does not work on the final build.

Vmware is working on DX9 support for Vmware so you can get Aero in your VM. In the meantime, you can terminal service into the VM from the host (instead of using VMwares UI) and you will get Aero if the host supports Aero.

My machine supports it, but since I really only boot Vista to play games or watch netflix. I run it in VM to play around in Sketchup due to a mouse sync problem in Vista (only in that program strangely enough) So it isnt that important for me to have Aero Glass in VMWare, I was just whining for the sake of whining.

Thank you for the tip, but I'll probably just stick with what I have. I really can't wait until VMWare gets DX9 support adn Unity working with Vista, then I can really show off some nifty features to my friends that still hate on Mac.
