Okay...
I have been toying with my computer for a while now trying to figure this out, and tech support for various hardware keeps redirecting me, so I hope some of you can help me. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Okay, in dxdiag when I look under my display tab, AGP texture acceleration is listed as "Not Available", this shouldn't be, but for the life of me I cant figure out why it IS...(yes direct draw is enabled)
Please help.

System:
OS: WinXP Home /DX: 9.0a
MB: Epox 8RDA nforce2
-BIOS: Pheonix Award Bios, 6.00PG (The lastest I found on the Epox board as of today)
-Driver: Unified driver pack for WinXP v2.00
Proccesor: AMD Athalon 2600+
Video: Radeon 9700 PRO
-Driver: Catalyst 3.4, recent driver on ati.com, changed from 3.1 which had the same problem
Sound: SB live! Value
-Driver: 3300 (current)
Memory: 1024mb ddr Crucial pc2700

I tested the system with 3dMark03 and got a 4606, which is wierd, cause that seems high considering agp texture acc. is not running.

I flashed my bios w/ newest availiable, reinstalled DX 9.0a, reinstalled recent video drivers.
Enabled/Disabled directdraw and direct3d.

Any feedback or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

AGP texturing is pretty much unused by any card, it only happens when the card runs out of memory onboard which is rare even with current games, especially a 128MB card. That's why the performance doesn't seem all that much different. The actual bus speed is what really makes AGP useful.

Open the display properties, on the Settings tab, click the Advanced button. You should see a bunch of ATI tabs. Find the one that gives you current status of the card and see if it's running in PCI mode. If it is, then there's a problem with the AGP driver for the chipset. There are also settings for defining what AGP mode the card runs in (1X, 4x, 8x) so check that. Also in the BIOS make sure that AGP 8X is enabled and any other AGP settings.

You can also try the 2.03 nvidia drivers rather than the Epox driver set. You may also need to NOT install the SmartGART function with the Catalyst drivers.

Search these and other forums, there have been posts all the time about problems with nforce2 and ATI cards, which I didn't pay attention to so they may or may not have any relation to this.

Hmmm, thanks alot for the advice Evermore, now, if you or anyone else could verify this is what you were talking about:
Under Display Settings > Advanced > Adapter
In a block marked Adapter Type I click a button "Properties"
"That open Radeon 9700 PRO Properties", General
Device Type: Display Adapters
Manufacturer: ATI Tech.
Location: PCI Bus 2, device 0, Function 0 <-------------------------------This here what your talking about?

If so, why is it running as a pci when its in an agp slot and what will fix it?

Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

Not quite. On the 9700 Pro Properties dialog, you'll either have 3 rows of tabs, or a single row. If you have a single row then the Catalyst drivers aren't installed right.

In the 3 rows, one is labelled SmartGART. Click that and see what it says is the current AGP mode.

The Location: PCI Bus 2 thing is just how Windows identifies the AGP port.

Problem fixed, I reformatted and fixed bios and drivers all new.
I just decided to stop beating around the bush.
Although it was deffinitely the driver, cause I was not getting all my ati tabs, so the catalyst was jacked for me. Thanks for all the help though
