HuffPo's liveblog keeps talking about how the police on the streets might be Lebanese Hezbollah brought in for riot control. Is there any truth to that or any sources on that? I have yet to find anything besides "unconfirmed reports".

Arabs inside Iran will stand out. They don't speak Farsi. Majority of the Iranian population speaks Farsi then English as a second language.
The guys on the bikes riding around beating people up are the basij (volunteer force sworn to protect the Islamic Regime against any threat) or the Revolutionary Guard loyal to the regime.
The police are doing their job. Protecting the city. Throw a couple bottles at them and they might get pissed off enough to join in on the beating but for the most part they are just blocking off streets and protecting key buildings. They are keeping their distance.

Aimster you seem to know a bit, do you mind if I ask what your background is?

I am seeing reports that the Basij HQ has been set on fire.

Look, first of all, all of you need to stop imposing American values onto Iran. By saying that Iran holds the same values as America such as "free speech" and "free elections" is completely arrogant. No where in Iranian law does it grantee these freedoms. As Americans we need to respect the laws, culture, and values of Iran.

I think you're a little confused - rights like "free speech, free elections, etc" aren't really "America's rights" - they are everyones.

You are using this term "stealing this election" but you are imposing an American view that the elections shouldn't be rigged in the first place.

Iran is not and never will be a threat. The elections in Iran mean nothing to the US. Nothing at all. Everyone knows this.

Instability in nuclear armed nations mean nothing? Their trading partner North Korea can tell you how quickly you can move from nuclear reactors to nuclear weapons.

Apparently, American values don't include that of being literate.
This quote is going to be fun to bring up later on if you say shit about any other country ever.
Love.
