I'm posting this because I want the most people to see it but the Mods can move it to where they feel it's appropriate.
Today I received an email that "appeared" to be from eBay but soon became clear to me it wasn't.
The title of the email is: recognition@ebay.com
and the subject is: "You deserve a special thank you from eBay"
Here is the contents of the email:
CONGRATULATIONS ON EARNING YOUR ORANGE STAR!
We at eBay would like to congratulate you on obtaining feedback points and reaching the Fidelity Star level.

This link "http://pages.ebay.com/community/recognition/index.htm " which makes you think it goes to eBay actually brings you to another website that "looks" like an official eBay page. That link brings you to a page where you would enter your eBay ID and Password to log-in. If you do enter you ID and Password it records your info into their database and brings you to another page that asks you to enter the "promotion code" from the email. You enter that then it sends you to Ebay's homepage.
I won't put here the actual address of this fake eBay page because whoever made that site isn't too bright and its VERY easy for anyone to access the database of all the people who actually did enter their ID and Password.
I sent eBay a message about this this morning so I hope they act on it promptly. So if you get this email just delete it. BUT if you did get this email and you did enter your ID and Password at this fake site then you should most definitely change your eBay password immediately.
