I couldn't help but smile at that one

I was being way too Sensitive, sorry everyone.:brokenheart:

Mike my friend
You've been sick and in pain. besides I didn't see any name calling in any of your post

Jim, As good as that sounds, It was my fault this became heated, I accept that and i am sorry.

Had I been more teammate and less sensitive, I could have and should have been there for enjem as you and others have shown me time and again.

I'd like to input that there are many, many off-site forums where AT members who have been chastised, abused, banned, outgrown, or simply grown tired, go to still interact with members of their TeAm. Were it not for these sites, we would of lost contact with our teammates long ago. Alot of them have quit crunching, but still enjoy our company. Some just like to keep to themselves, & appreciate a place where their questions wont sink off the first page within the hour.

We have gone through surgery, divorce, child support, virtual-AA, many a financial crisis, P&N meltdowns, natural distasters, terrorist attacks, & even death. None of this done anything but brought us all closer together. Through thick & thin, we are more honest & suportive then most people are willing to admit.

Don't anyone give up on us. You'll be giving up on thousands of TeAmmates around the world that had absolutely nothing to do with any of this. We are all bigger then this.

Wolfsraider,

I'm happy to see your retraction and apology and want you to know I support you and thank you for your fence mending efforts in this thread.

I am going to mention that I don't think you should take this whole thing on your shoulders. It wasn't all your fault.

I remember my reactions to the early goings in this thread and despite the fact that I managed to keep most of those to myself (I do have a personality that would many times have had me posting much differently than I did.) I will say I understand the reactions of many of the posters when they read what they did.

I think every one needs to remember that if we are going to pick a fight, we will be challenged by our TeAm mates. (That really is a thing friends do)

This thread (and I assume from some of the later posts, some PMs) got way out of hand. With similar efforts to restore the friendships we enjoy from a couple more members it can drift off to oblivion and we can all learn from it.

Well I'm not editing my posts or changing what I said. My first replies to this matter and emjem's views was civilized and calm. Everybody can have their views on a matter and that don't bother me, but after all the total bull he wrote about me and Mike and our sites and our intentions and how we're bringing the TeAm down.. man I'm not taking that!!!!!!

After looking at what emjem said, I find there is truth in his words, for me.
I haven't contributed much lately. I am going into a new route that should be intresting and not take anything away but should bring back much more to the team. I am going ahead with the site. It won't be a rehash of old and known information for the most part. At least that is my hope.

We are a forum like any other. What sets us apart are our goals to find cures, discover the universe, our dreams to help the world and crunching to try to do just that. We are a community, we laugh, we cry, we fight, and we make friends. Rarely do we get the chance to meet face to face, so how well do we know each other? Sounds like we are just like everyone else on the web.

This is our forum, not mine, not yours but ours to share none the less. Its a place to post our goals our stats as well as make friends (or enemies). To discuss all that makes dc interesting.

Hell I live here most of the time I just wish to make the experience a better one.
I am deeply indebted to all of you, more than I can express. You are all like family (no you are more than that).

I am getting too long in the tooth, suffice it to say I blundered, I hurt a teammate and I won't forget that. It is my hope that we all can get past this and focus on where we are headed, and to remind ourselves that we are lost without the help of one another. There are some big teams on our horizon, we have to band together to give them a good run.

Johan, you have taught me a lot. I have made many mistakes, and you have always been there for me. You have taught me its better to forgive than to hold a grudge, Yeah, I know I have a lot more learning to do on that one, but I am getting there.

I pale in compassison to my teammates. Its folks like you that have given me much to ponder and learn from.

If I just learned to open my mouth AFTER I thought about things.

You have made me realize that all this (dc) is not whats important, its the folks behind it that make it great.

Hell we could be working on cars, cooking food, etc... Its not what we do its how we do it!

Friends then!

I buy the first round

cheers and beers!

Goodbye BadThad! Wherever you may go, thank you for the good time, for your production for the TeAm and for hanging out with all of us on the forums. You'll be missed.

Wow. I am just shocked. We are all what makes up this great team. We should be able to work through anything.

I'm a little surprised at the names that emjem was being called. I don't read his posts as trolls at all. I can understand how someone who put a fair amount of effort into a site could get their back up if the value of the site was questioned, but unless you're a mod, this is a fairly public place and you can't control what is being posted in a thread.

Personally, the best use I see for the offsite locations is to have longer FAQs and links to stats that the main Anandtech site doesn't carry. You could use the forum to store someof them, but you either end up with too long a "welcome" post or too many stickied threads up top. Plus, if you use stickies, there always will be some program that isn't stickied and that causes fights and hard feelings as well.

The best solution would be for Anandtech themselves to provide the web space at least for FAQs that could be easily updated. Other than keeping the forum open, official support has waxed and waned over the years. Probably more on the waning side now than waxing.

So, emjem, I can see your point but I can see the need for an offsite location or two as well. I see no problem with a member requesting help for that. I thought that your opinion was OK and wasn't expressed in an insulting way, but I also have zero emotional connection because I haven't worked on the sites being questioned.

Thank you for the crunching you're done in the past and I hope you drop by to visit every once and a while.

Hi TeAm - mates, Just returned from being out of town and am sad about the turn of things.
There is one thing however, that has not been addressed:

emjem has asked (essentially) what the value of the TA.net and Redeyexpress sites is and what can not be provided by this site. I think that that question should be answered:

There we can do what is not quite accepted here (OK, we can do it but only within limits ..) Neffing. Neffing is important for the mini teams, its fun and it takes bandwidth. I can fully understand that Anand does not want neffing in this site. The admins ban neffers if they are too bandwidth consuming. Johan and Mike on their sites are much more generous.

Why is neffing important? Because neffing is a social interaction which allows us to have more fun, to write in a fun way what may be - by others - seen as non-sense, pointless and irreverent, but which makes a team stick together more. A type of room, where we may relax much more than here, because we feel (although that may not be so in reality) more private.

To sum up: not only information but also social interaction in a way which is not that easily done here. The info may be important to most (and that is supported by Anand), the neffing is important mostly to those who do it (and Anand does not want to take the cost of that).

Now this is not the whole justification for the off-site TeAm-sites. There are more, and other people see other justifications. But this is for quite a few people an important one.

Just my 2 cents ...

Other than noting a PM to one person, my participation in this threas has been nil. And other than this post, it'll remain so.

This thread has been very informative for me, in that I know who(in my mind) the loyal TA members are, and who isn't such. I know(in my mind) which members are interested in the growth and education of the TeAm, and which are not. I've also learned where(in my mind) divisiveness has been introduced, to the detriment of all involved.

Since all of this is "in my mind", I need not post the specifics here. Suffice to say, I know who I will continue to work with and who I will now(or continue to as the case may be) ignore.

In all, this thread has been most enlightening. Thank you.

PS: I'm not going anywhere - TA is a part of my "online family". And just like some of my "offline family" some members are not worth communicating with.
