Alternative for WMP11 Media Sharing

I would like to use Win Server 2008 as a primary workstation OS, but I really love to stream my Music and Videos to my Xbox and for some screwed over reasoning MS cut out Windows Media Player 11 Media Sharing out of server 2008. You will see the the "Configure Sharing..." grayed out in the library tab of the options. I couldn't for the life of me find a way to enable it and I don't think I can from what Google tells me.
Please post your suggestions for third party or first party programs to replace the wmpnetwk/wmpnsfg services regular Vista uses for sharing. I prefer the program to be as similar as possible in what it shares to WMP11 and don't care about anything other than what is on my hard drive in the Videos, Pictures, and Music folders. It would be helpful if someone could find a way for the old standalone version of this sharing "Windows Media Connect 2" to work on Server 2008.

from what i've tried the media sharing is a bit buggy on XP WinServ..it works after updating a ton of patches..but it's quite a hassle..

check the net tab for these

RTSP/UDP
RTSP/TCP
HTTP
"allow the player to receive multicast..."
Proxy should be set at
HTTP to Browser
RTSP is None

if u had all those and still unable to share then u might try switching to vista

or u could try these
- Quintessential Media Player 5.0 Build 121 (freeware. support WMsharing n SHOUTCAST
- Fusion (Free, WMS, SHOUTCAST, n lots more) http://www.fusionmedia.org (my favorite)
- VLC Player.. (Free, WMS, unicast or multicast in IPv4 or IPv6)

Did you start the sharing service? It may be turned off by default.

Go to manage my computer and go to the services tab and make sure Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service has been started

To DimZiE: Whatever you just posted has absolutely nothing to do with WMP11 Media Sharing over lan to an Xbox 360 or another PC with WMP11. I believe the full name may be UPNP Media Sharing and It looks like whatever is on the net tab is for hosting a stream over the internet or something and you are giving me suggestions for programs of that function.
To mc866: No those two services related to the WMP Media (wmpnetwk/wmpnsfg) are nonexistant in the services list(services.msc).

One alternative I found is winampremote but it cannot stream pictures and can for all intensive purposes only stream music well because any videos that go through it are downgraded severely in quality even though they could already play on 360 with no need to convert . I watched in awe as waited like forever for an HD video to convert first to craptacular youtube quality. All other apps I find cannot simply share Videos, Music, and Pictures without adding bloated extra crap.

Basically I want to find a free UPNP Media Server for Windows. Every UPNP Media Server software I found so far are for Mac or Linux.

Try Tversity or Orb, I believe they can both stream to 360.

Otherwise if you aren't set on server 08, WHS has this feature built in, but it's not really an OS you would want to use for a workstation
