Alternative to Bearshare?

Right now I use Bearshare for my downloading of music files. I think it is pretty good, my only complaint is I can't specify what file type i want to search for. I was just wondering if I am missing anything a whole world better than Bearshare. Are there any programs that you think blows Bearshare out of the water?

There was an extensive thread on this just a few days ago. The consenus was that Morpheus is the best alternative.

Morpheus is buggy as hell. When it works, it works great which is about half the time. It takes forever to connect properly, also, when you click 'search' you occasionally get an illegal operation message which is annoying as hell, plus it's a resource hog.

I've had no problems with it. A resource hog? dunno. Not enough to slow down my rig significantly.

I briefly used WinMX. I uninstalled it after I found I couldn't get anything off of it either.

You can try kazaa. Thats pretty cool, i use it. kazaa

i used winmx. i thought it sucked b/c the only servers it had listed were small and were always busy. i also couldnt find too many files with it.

i used imesh too and its not that bad.

as for morpheus, when i downloaded it and clicked on the exe to install, it said it could not run in dos mode. i thought wtf? this isnt dos.

i finally found a version of morpheus that installs.
anyone else notice that morpheus and kazaa are essentially the same thing?

i dont like not having a hotlist/contacts/etc. when i find someone that i can download fast from i wanna be able to check out everything they have.

I downloaded Kaza (mistake) it wouldn't connect. So then i trashed it and downloaded morpheus when I ran it it loaded Kazza. The programs are exactly the same. Kazaa is a server of morpheus. The only differance is the MusicCity servr is up
